Volatile Tool

Costs 20 Points.

The Volatile tool is a omni-tool which can change into one of several different tools. When you command it to change, it will randomly turn into a pickaxe, hatchet, butterfly net, hammer, knife, harpoon, or needle. These are used exactly the same as a normal tool, but provide a boost that doubles the experience you would ordinarily gain while using them. The tool will be able to be of use a few times (the time depends upon your level in the skill) before returning to the natural form; after ten changes, you will need to pay points to have it recharged.

Volatile Tool

The volatile tool is a multi-purpose object that you can command to take a new shape. When you do so, it will randomly turn into one of the following: hatchet, butterfly net, hammer, harpoon, knife, needle or pickaxe. These can be used exactly as you would use a normal tool of their type, but will increase the experience you earn by 120% when you use them. The tool will stay in this shape for a certain number of uses (based on your level in the relevant skill) before disintegrating.

The tool will transform back to its raw state ten times before it disintegrates. You can check the percentage of experience remaining by right-clicking on it and selecting 'Count-charges'.

I'm certain this means 2,2x XP rate (compared to 2x of the morphic tool).

Good to be gone :)

A lot of people have posted their xp/hour and other stuff from tools - I haven't really seen posts saying something specific such as "I got 360xp from making a green dhide body" (normally 180xp), etc.

If someone would like to post the exact experience they got, from either the proto (morphic) OR the volatile tool, I'd be MOST interested in capturing this info.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

First figures coming up:

Volatile hatchet VS. Sacred clay (morphic) hatchet:

Both tested at level 71 woodcutting; I cut 40 oak logs.

Volatile starter XP: 815258 (83999 remainder)

Volatile ending XP: 818558 (80699 remaider)

40 oak logs = 3300 XP

1 oak log = 82,5 XP

Morphic starter XP: 818558 (80699 remainder)

Morphic ending XP: 821558 (77699 remainder)

40 oak logs = 3000 XP

1 oak log = 75 XP

Normally, you would get 37,5*40 = 1500XP; 37,5 XP per oak log.

So in conclusion, cutting oak logs with:

Normal axe - 37,5 XP/log

Sacred Clay (Morphic) axe - 75 XP/log

Volatile axe - 82,5 XP/log

If normal axe gives 1x (100%) XP

Then Morphic axe gives 2x (200%) XP

And Volatile axe gives 2,2x (220%) XP

Volatile axe gives 1,1x (110%) XP compared to morphic axe (if we assume morphic axe gives 1x (100%) XP)

  • 5 months later...

We revised this back when to make it clearer. Have added you to credits.
