deathbyblad0
I have 76 mining, and I looked to see how many gold ores I would need to get to 85. It would take me around 27k, however I saw with a morphic pickaxe it would only take me around 13k ores. My question is about the morphic pickaxe. What is the speed of it compared to rune? How long does it last for? I'm not too familiar with Stealing Creations, so any other helpful information about it or personal usage of it would be much appreciated. Thanks. ~Deathbyblad0
Seraphyna
I've heard that morphic picks and wc axes are comparable to addy. I don't know how long a pick would last on gold as it depends on xp and not time used. If the double xp means using goldsmith gaunts you get double that xp it could be very worth using. X3EN
You can get a morphic tool in one game, unless the other team is very, very powerful. So you should stock up 10 morphic tools in bank + one in your inventory and go mining, mine them all out and go for more SC. I have all stats 50+ and can handle 30k score every game unless the other team imposes the absolute map takeover tactic (see Stealing Creation rant, my reply). So to get 11 tools it would take 11 games (220 mins), or even less (if you get more than 20 reward points). Remember - collect clay, do not mess into a fight. Use ranged armor and a familiar (so you wont need to run to base to deposit). You can erect barriers if you are afraid of thieves, but just process arrows and either deposit em at your familiar or equip them and thieves will not pose a threat. Dexek
I believe it has been calculated that the morphic pickaxes, due to their short life, are not worth obtaining. This of course is based on the time it takes to get your maximum experience and the time it takes to play a game. The results were based on granite mining, which is one of, if not the fastest mining experience in Runescape. You can use 4 Morphic pickaxes during an hour of powermining granite. So, regardless of the xp you just look at the number of pickaxes used. It generally takes a 20 minute Stealing Creation game to obtain a morphic pickaxe, meaning 80 minutes for enough to give you double xp for an hour of mining. Whereas mining double the regular time with a rune pickaxe is 60 minutes. This would mean you have 20 minutes unaccounted for by obtaining these morphic pickaxes. However, this is based on granite powermining. You may feel the pickaxes have more use when you are mining ores that are more difficult to gather. If you do plan on mining gold.. definitely stick with the rune pickaxe. If you haven't seen the Grand Exchange price for gold, it is about 503gp each. There should be no reason at all to want to cut down on the amount of ores you'll obtain. Especially to cut them in half. I could understand that with powermining, as the ores would have no value. Regardless of that fact, it is "proven" to take longer to obtain the SC pickaxes than it would to simply mine the ores with a rune pickaxe. So look at it this way. You'll save yourself time by mining normally, and will also increase your profits by 200% (provided you will bank this ore). 13k Gold ore = 6, 539, 000gp 27k Gold ore = 13, 581, 000gp I figured the numbers might help you decide. I hope that my added input helps with your choice. Enjoy the road to 85 mining. Heck, you may as well make a nice sum while obtaining it, eh? : PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape

UnknownRemoval
If you want to gold mine, do it. But mining iron/granite and then making money a different way would be faster overall. Retired Crew Member | Retired RuneScape Player
