My friend has been banned and is unclear when it says if you are banned for 1 more day does it mean 1 day and 23 hours or 1 day (24 hours or less)?

Im pretty sure one day means less than 24 hours 2 days is less than 48 hours...

Thats what I thought too, but he told me it has been a little past a day. Maybe he just has to wait a bit longer?
