January 21, 200917 yr Ok so here is the deal. I'm considering going for 85 mining and I'm trying to figure out some stuff about it, I've never been big into mining so I want to ask for help. Granite is still the fastest xp, correct? How much xp avg could I get per hour, mining and dropping? If I, however, want to perhaps swap it up and make a little teensy bit of profit doing iron/coal, how much iron ore (estimated, of course) do you think I could get in an hour, while banking it? And what is a good location for mining and banking iron? And with coal as well, but I imagine that's a little more complex question. I appreciate any help you can give, answer any or all of the questions and don't be afraid to repost the same advice! It'll just help to reaffirm other opinions. Going to bed now but I'll be checking this tomorrow. Thanks in advance for your help!
January 21, 200917 yr Unless you use SwiftKeys or whatever they're called.. dropping will become very tedious and it's often quicker to just bank (depending on location). I suggest mining iron ore outside of Yanille, and banking. It's quick. And you can either sell or, or smelt/smith it. Supposedly at some level you could go to guild and mine coal, and bank for quick xp along with profit. But, overall, granite is the fastest. But you'll need to drop the ore. And bring waterskins and such because it's in the desert. Nemo vir est qui mundum non reddat meliorem..
January 21, 200917 yr I cant answer teh questions you asked but I have an alternative. One of the distractions and diversions is falling stars, a mining game. I would suggest joining a star hunting clan (example: hunt4stars). I suggest reading the rules of whatever clan you join on the forums (most have a thred, and you can ask in game for the thred name). The xp is not the best, but thats more due to the waiting for a star to fall than anything else. If you have an SC pick, or are teh first one to touch a star then the xp is better. I wouldn't train all the time like this if your in any kind of rush, but when you get bored this allows you to have fun and get mining exp at the same time.
January 21, 200917 yr Author Good suggestions, thanks! And I'll look into the shooting stars thing, I don't do many of the distractions/diversions thing so I don't know much about them :) Any more suggestions?
January 22, 200917 yr Ok, well I'll give you a few scenarios: You want speed. This is the best option. The fastest method is Granite AND Sandstone, and I believe it CAN reach 80k+, although the average player is most likely in the 60k range. There is no profit to speak of, unless you bank the granite which isn't worth much. You will lose money since you must use Humidify or the Enchanted Water Tiara. But, it's the fastest way, outside of shooting stars. Which brings me to the next scenario. You want speed but don't want to bore your head off. Star hunting can RIVAL granite for xp and it brings about 100k profit and fun each star. If you want an in-depth guide on this, there's a link in my sig. It's the only green link there. I'm sure it will help you if you decide to do it (XP rates are in there). Lastly, for profit you're best off simply powering to 85, then mining rune. Rune mining is like 600k per hour, there's no way the profit you get from mining to 85 makes up for that. Gold is something like 200k per hour but is like 15k xp per hour. That's like being 6x slower, and in that time you can make 3x the money. But if you're f2p, just powermine iron. That's how I got to 85. Expect 35-40k xp per hour done right. ~It's Super Effective!
