I heard from a friend that there is a way you can change an original xbox into a computer. Microsoft tried to cover up the guides because they where not in the business of making cheap computers. I know this is VERY old new but I was looking at my old xbox next to my shiny 360, and started to wonder. I couldent find any guides and I was wondering if anybody knew the basics or where i could go to get info.

Edit: Found out that an Xbox basically has some of the key parts of a computer, still looking for info.

They probably are just using a mod chip and installing Linux. It won't be very good at all though.

You need to either modify a usb cable with controller split cable (the little one which breaks off) or buy one as well as purchase a copy of x game (I've forgot which one it is but I'll research it for you).

 

There's the option in the game to load from usb (you basically attach a usb flash drive the new cable) which you use to run a program (again I'll try and find the pages I looked at when I was going to do this). From here you then add an option to the start menu which you use to run a linux installation CD.

 

The rest is simple.

 

 

 

Sorry its a bit vague, but the last time I looked at how to do it as well as what you need was over a year ago.
