Speedyshel
I've been doing Rocking Out and the part where you talk to the Customs Officer in Rimmington near the start kind of misled me. I'm not sure if I read the guide wrong, but this is how it was for me: When asked about the Saucy Wench, I had to say "That's one of your ships." He then laughed and responded "Okay you got me." Then when asked about the Gnome's Promise I had to respond with something not in the guide (don't remember what because my print-screen got erased). Only then would he respond with "You ARE a pirate!" and arrest me. So I am not sure if it's just that I didn't understand the guide or what, but my options were different to the guide. I have screens of what I said, but that doesn't really help you much. Perhaps someone else can check when they do the quest? I don't mean to waste crewbies' time, but just maybe it's worth checking or elaborating a little in the guide. Perhaps, it's different for each player which response will work? I dunno, just thought I'd point it out because my replies were different. - Speedyshel Website Updates and Corrections *..It is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not..*
Speedyshel
Here are the pictures I have from the conversation with the Customs Officer. Don't know if they help, though - they don't prove anything technically. BTW, the guide worked for my brother. First Response: http://img405.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... werti9.jpg His Response: http://img244.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... ut2td8.jpg I then answered the question about the Gnome Promise and he responded: http://img244.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... ut3bp2.jpg - Speedyshel Website Updates and Corrections *..It is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not..*
SportsGuy
Step 2 was a little vague and confusing. I decided to take pictures of the order of dialogue. In order to take pictures I had to get out of the dialogue. SO...he first asks you who you are, you should choose the "mighty pirate" option. If you make a mistake (on purpose or otherwise) during the dialogue, he picks up where you last chose correctly. The following is a suggested alteration to the second part: 2. Wearing full pirate clothing (bandana, stripy shirt, leggings, and boots), head to Rimmington and speak to the Customs Sergeant in the office. When he asks who you are, say you are a mighty pirate. When he talks about The Saucy Wench, ask him if it's a trick because you know the ship was sunk. He'll comment about The Reaver taking it down. Tell him that the ship gave a good account against the Customs tub. He'll decide to arrest you. For step three, it mentions banking everything in the Customs Lockers. I think a mention in the "required/suggested" section that appears between steps 1 and 2 about having at least 5 open bank spaces should be included. Why five? One for each piece of clothing and one for the Book o' Piracy. You need even more room later on when you have to return to the island to get the brooch. At least four more spaces for the four marks, if you do the tasks in that order. If you DON'T do it in that order, you COULD talk to Cap'n Izzy No Beard FIRST and get his mark first and save space. Otherwise, you need more space. Since mine is full, I needed to get rid of some temporary space savers in order to have the room. If people get other dialogue now, then it's possible that the choices are random (I had no mention of a Gnome's Promise). Otherwise, perhaps the choices have been changed. I just thought it would be useful. Speedyshel
[CREW NOTE: MERGED TOPICS] I can vouch for this because I too created a thread where my dialog was not the same as the guide said. I'm glad SportsGuy posted this because it confirms that my dialog was not the only different one. Refer to http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=226&t=780575 for more screens of the dialog. - Speedyshel Website Updates and Corrections *..It is better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you're not..*

I'm sorry that I didn't see yours first...I might have bumped your original post. It turns out that this quest may in fact have multiple different scenarios. We should either post all possible options or post more generic clues, since answering wrong doesn't really affect you (other than having to re-answer). From the sound of it, The Gnome's Promise is one of their ships and The Reaver is the Customs' "tub" that "gave a good account" and sunk The Saucy Wench. pokemama
ironically, I too had different dialog, and the crew wrangled about it the day we uploaded the guide, lol. EDIT: turns out the proper answers to the questions are posted on a bulletin board on the outside the building, to the right of the door when you are facing it, lol. Will try to get pics and explanation into guide soon. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.
