very rarely someone will say something that funny to make me laugh out loud.

I only use Lol, Rofl, Lmao is all crap. Sometimes I laugh hard, sometimes I giggle, sometimes I just say lol because I have nothing better to say.

I almost never laugh when I say "lol" but I always laugh when I say "lmao" and I'm really laughing my [wagon] off when I say "roflmao".
