March 5, 200917 yr About 6 months ago I sold gold ore at the GE for 500gp per ore. Now it's at 479. Two days ago it was at 471. Why does it change? Is there any way to predict when it'll go back up? I suppose it has to do with supply and demand?
March 5, 200917 yr I suppose it has to do with supply and demand? This plus new quests/minigames (since gold smithing is very quick exp) and clan buy outs. March 5, 200917 yr supply & demand determines all prices, in the player run economy in RS if more supply than demand price will lower eventually, opposite applies for more demand than supply also, merchanting clans may be buying out items to force price increases but there is no 100% guaranteed way to predict price fluctuations You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr What are clan buy outs? a clan mass buys an item, then doesn't sell them, until prices rise steeply through lack of supply (underhanded IMO, but not illegal unfortunately :wall: ) You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr Author Thanks. I'm not looking for a 100% guarantee. Just maybe some telltale signs that it may go up or down. EDIT: Can for instance the graphs on the runescape website tell me anything?
March 5, 200917 yr the GE Graphs is what these merchanting clans go by apparently, so i presume they're your best bet or check marketplace forums here or RSOF. they should give rough ideas on what items are in demand/over-supplied You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr Author Thanks a lot. One more thing, if I mine say, 2000 gold ores, will I affect the market?
March 5, 200917 yr well gold ore is f2p and p2p, and the number of accounts with 40+ mining are easily in the millions, so you're 2k ores would highly unlikely affect the market You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr Author Good. Because I don't want to, considering the little knowledge I have on the subject.
March 5, 200917 yr the chances of you collecting 2k of anything for profit ores/fish/logs are unlikely to cause mass fluctuations of prices the merchanting clans and so forth cause more damage than the solo players leveling and profiteering EDIT: sorry typo You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr well unless millions of accounts all copied you and everyone mined 2k ores and sold at once then market will remain steady with smithers/crafters buying the ore to use I wc over 65k yew logs to get my wc cape and yew market is still fine, actually risen recently so that why i said unlikely You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr Author I mean you made a typo and said likely instead of unlikely. Or am I wrong here?
March 5, 200917 yr ahh my bad i did mean unlikely, will edit it now #-o chances of one player messing up market is almost impossible it's an economy controlled by millions of people daily  You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr they vary but normally are huge and they spend literally all of each member's money on the items causing a massive chunk of the supply to simply 'disappear' from the economy normally only people to profit are the clan's higher ranked members and leaders though, like a pyramid scheme You only live twice. March 5, 200917 yr indeed, i despise clans like that, supposed to play for fun, not to make the most cash at the detriment of normal players You only live twice.
