If you get attack by something, be it a player or npc, timer starts on it and you only have an hour from then until it disappears.

A friend of mine bought Zuriel's Staff just to mess around for a bit (and boy did it own), but it seemed to only drain time when he was wielding it. I say this because we went to Bandos between uses, resulting in hours apart.

 

Perhaps the items remains intact until you start combat, then the timer drains only while continuing to wear them.

Yeah with pvp people recommend to put it on only while using a zuriel spell.

its the same as borrows items, only when actually using it when fighting it degrades.

I too have heard that if someone pks with range/dragon baxe instead of a R2H as the KO weapon, then you can safely pk for days without it disappearing. It seems to only degrade when you have it equipped, not just in your inventory. Just dont lose it though!

The dragon weapons, seeing as they all are corrupt, only last for 30 mins after being equipped. The only ones that don't degrade are the regular Vesta/Statius/Zuriel/Morrigan equipment and weapons.
