War_Junky_91
All right, i've spent the last hour trying to find what i want with no luck. I'm hoping someone here can help. In short what i want is basically the oposite of a wireless router. I want to receive a wireless signal and run one cable to my computer and one cable to PS2 and be able to connect to the internet. And just for reference i can not do any of those things like ethernet bridges and such. I connect to a wifi hotspot and not a router here in the house. So anybody know anything out there that can do what i want?
acenator
I'm pretty sure you can get a wireless router to do that (set it up as a "wireless access point" (WAP)). Either that or you can get an actual WAP, but I'm not sure if these can have more than one ethernet port (I have one, but it only has one ethernet port). I'll go look at a few things and get back to you. Also, the only reason I know what I know is because I'm in charge of the (wireless) network at my house that was set up several years ago by my uncle, so I can't give any advice on what brands are good/bad these days; I just know what type of things you might be able to use. EDIT: I just looked at a bunch of access points and routers. From what I saw, I think it's safe to say you're not going to find a WAP with more than one ethernet port (although you could combine it with a switch to get more ethernet ports; also, if you go this route, you might want to make sure you don't have to plug the WAP into the router to set it up like I have to with mine (I'm not sure if others can be set up with a conection to a computer)). However, they also make routers that can be set up as WAP's and I would assume you can just plug things into the ethernet ports and get internet on them (same thing: make sure you don't have to plug your router into the actual router to set it up (although I doubt you'd have to)). If you go the WAP + switch combo, you will be needing a WAP with the "wireless AP (access point) client" option. I'm not sure how routers work when set up as AP's as I have never needed to use one as such. EDIT 2: I just remembered you said you can't do bridges (I somehow managed to forget that when writing this post :wall: ), but that's all I know of that can get this done (and, now that I think about it, the router-as-an-AP idea just might work, anyways). Good luck and I hope you find something that will work. > SELECT * FROM users WHERE clue > 0;0 rows returnedThere's no place like 127.0.0.1There are only 10 types of peoplein this world: those who understandbinary and those who don't.This statement is false.$DO || ! $DO ; trytry: command not found
