Metallic Brushing and Text in Photoshop.

Featured Replies

Alright then, I've got the basic handle on photoshop... and I can make things like this in a relatively short time:

It's obviously too big in filesize and regular size for these and most fansite forums... but I like it just the way it is. That's my attempt at metallics, a simple gold on lighter gold coloration. With a bit of colorizing...

It isn't a real metallic, so I can't claim that yet, and I'd like to learn how to create metallic colors for avatars and signatures.

Thanks to anyone that can be of assistance.

The text isnt that metallic...ee...but the brush looks good, I'd say use a silver version...Just cuz gold is tacky and it shows off the chrome look more:? as far as text goes, try using some of the chroming effects after you rasterize the text layer :)

Interesting, thank you... I've seen the error message that tells me to rasterize the text layers when I try to manipulate them too much... but how exactly do you do that?

Once I reopen anything I make... the layers are gone and I just see a locked background. That makes it nearly impossible to remove the gold coloration and then pop in the silver. Now it's a golden chrome sort of color, but it still looks nice. I matched the text's base and overlay colors to the entwining cables on the right of the signature... it seems to play together pretty well. But I'm sure it's at fault as well.

And then how to resize it... filesize is the main issue, I need to get it down below 30K... but it's way up over 100 even as a .PNG. :(

Gif is smallest by far, you can rasterize just by right clicking the text layer and clicking "rasterize text layer" simple 'nuff :D

Maybe if you were using a font thats more bulky than that one it would look more metallic as well
