Me_Hate_Libs
Before I say anything, this is just a general overview for an idea I had. So, essentially I got this notion from the idea of "Wilderness Tag" that came to be cause it was deemed boring. In the Lumbridge Courtyard there will sit a new item. The "Planar Portal." The key item for this game is the portal. Now I'm not sure if it's possible to design, but what this portal can do is that it can teleport you to any random spot on the entire map, excluding some areas such as in mimigames, areas you cannot run from, etc. Then your goal is to run back all the way to Lumbridge and get back inside the safe zone... alive. Now a few things. Things that you cannot do and will disqualify your run: 1) Any type of teleporting that you cast: spells, tabs, clothes, etc (randoms teleporting you won't count.) 2) Running through any kind of Safe Zone. 3) Logging out 4) Accessing any store 5) Casting Home Teleport I'm sure there is more that would need to be done. You can wear any kind of equipment that you so choose, but cannot have anything in your inventory, all stats will be reset to normal by the portal. Also since you can't enter any safe zones, you also cannot take anything from your bank. You can use prayer, use any altar, eat any food you find, wield/wear any weapons/armor you find. Whatever you can do to make it back to Lumbridge. Now the rewards will have a number of factors that determine what you get: How many people attacked you, the level of the people that attacked you, the number of creatures and their levels that attacked you, distance traveled, if you were teleported into the wild, how much money your items are worth, and the amount of time it took you to get back. I think for the rewards should be a point system and you can use the points to buy stuff from Hans. Even if it would take a very high number of points, it would be nice if you had a sure fire way of obtaining a certain type of brawling gloves, PVP armor, as well as some clothing showing how good you are at surviving. compfreak847
There's simply not enough people on the map. Avoid uncrowded areas, 3 iteming with armadyl top & bottom, DFS, and veracs helm, and take a pack yak (30) + 18 invo spaces of brews + 2 super restores\prayer pots + 8 super energies\purple sweets = 3k+ healing points, with a hit rate of 1/5th and average damage of 14 on the prayer, it would take over a half hour of solid meleeing to completely drain your health, with no drop for the chaser. That coupled with the desired minimap would mean literally no one would ever fail to make it back. Mabye if you made it so you couldn't take food, pots, or armor, but even then it's easy to avoid crowded areas and PKers would usually leave you alone. Or just have a friend follow you and take out any PKers who come along #-o Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon BootsDry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks
Me_Hate_Libs
I debated on having you be able to wear armor. I personally don't think you should, but then the reward would be limited cause it would otherwise be a safe minigame as you'd have no risk. But... if the portal got rid of any familiars you had, and can't have any in your inventory, then that's solved. Also, after you get teleported and until you make it back to Lumbridge or log out, no trading. And the portal "skulls" you. So no safe 3 items. Also, having a friend help you, maybe. But you'd still have to wait for them to get you, and as I said, the spot you'd be teleported to is random. Also, that screws up avoiding crowded areas if you're teleported into arodugne market or some such place. And, like I also said, there are factors into your reward. If you get no attacks, then your reward will suck. And before you say then you could have your friend attack you, yeah, that's a problem. And I don't have a solution to it. Then again, Jagex doesn't have much solution for when people do that anyways to exploit PVP but that doesn't stop them. I was curious about whether the idea had worth and might prove beneficial to develop in some way. I didn't go through the labor of trying to design an entire new minigame with every little detail fleshed out. That's what content developers get paid for. And I'm not trying to figure out an easier way to get PVP or money or whatever, just something different. This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2010 Jagex Ltd. compfreak847
Then don't wear armor. The chance that you'll get teleported into a busy area is less then 1 percent, and even then you most likley won't get killed anyway with 20+ brews. You could just have a friend teleport to where you get sent to, then kick you the whole way there to get massive points. You can't just throw up your hands and say 'I don't know how to solve this, Jagex will magically fix it". Regular PVP gives you the same benefit no matter who you kill for 26k, so friends and RWT aren't an issue at all. Since it's so easy for friends to kick, you'll be under attack the entire time and the rewards would have to be almost worthless to make up for 100% attack time, and anything less then that would be essentially zero, meaning the only people who will ever use it will be exploiting it with friends #-o Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon BootsDry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks
sees_all1
IDK compfreak, I think the idea has potential. Can I try to expand upon it? Let's say the minigame is a safe one, so when you die, all of your stuff is returned (everything, not just your three items). This minigame is also only played on 2 worlds, 1 F2P and 1 P2P - so it'll be crowded with people doing this. -There are specific items you're allowed to have and not have, sort of like FoG. Heck, make it like FoG, and you're only allowed to start the game when your inventory has nothing in it. -When you teleport out, you'll either be assigned to one of two random tasks - the first is to try and get back to the castle, the second is to try and kill people getting back to the castle. -If you're the former, then you'll be given 6 bandages, and your stats will be reduced in some fashion, and any boosted stats will be reduced to their normal level. -You will gain a special type of skull. Only people playing the game on the opposing side are allowed to attack you. -You'll be given one random teleport, that will teleport you to some other location on the map that is approximately the same distance to lumbridge from where you are now. -When you return, your score (tokens) are based upon how many bandages, HP, and teleports you have left (100 * % hp left, 10 per bandage, 40 for teleport) Rewards are based upon the number of tokens you get. -If you return successfully, you can opt to "chain" your run - and you'll be teleported out with the same things you have left. -If you successfully return, your score will be sum of previous + N*(current+50), where N is the number of chained runs. If you don't return successfully, you won't receive any tokens at all (even for successful). -Each time you go back your skull will increase in value, and display the multiplier (making you a more lucrative target). -There are no safe spots on the map as this is a safe minigame. -If you're the latter, the hunter, you'll receive 6 potions - 2 increase your strength by 40%, 2 increase your attack by 30%, and 2 increase your prayer by 50%. Each potion has 3 doses. -You will also receive 1 teleport to take you directly to a high value person. -Your score will be 10*(kill value) for each target killed. So someone starting on their first run will have a kill value of 10, someone on their second will have a value of 20, and so on. -At any time you may opt out of your position, and receive tokens base upon your kills. -For every 10 people you kill, you'll get a bonus of 50 tokens. -Every so often you'll get a random target - killing this individual will give you double the points than you would normally get. You may opt to teleport to this target for just the normal points you would get, instead of double. -If you and another person dealt damage to an individual and they die, you'll receive points strictly based on HP dealt. Oh, there should be level differences. There'd also be some nice rewards for the tokens... either 1 token = 5 experience, or something else to be determined. Me_Hate_Libs
I'm not saying for Jagex to magically fix it. I was saying on that issue, I don't know how to solve it. I was asking if the idea itself had any potential, or if it sucks to the point that like Wilderness Tag, it should be scrapped. And let's be frank, PVP popularity is way down. Probably need to reduce the worlds and force more people into fewer worlds. This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2010 Jagex Ltd. Me_Hate_Libs
I don't usually see that, but you could still put it on one world and probably get that world having more people and having less hot spots. So screw the rewards and just make it clothing showing you could do it. This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2010 Jagex Ltd. compfreak847
I don't usually see that, but you could still put it on one world and probably get that world having more people and having less hot spots. Not likely, if the reward is only clothing very few people would participate and it wouldn't affect the population. Plus it would still mean you get nothing unless you have a friend kicking the whole way, but since the reward is only clothing that very few people would even bother to get, it's not as big of an issue. I wouldn't see the point in wasting Jagex's time on an update that would be used by virtually no one. Let them focus on updates that many people play, not one that fades into the background like trekking.
