Are you sure that you (1) actually got it in the first place and (2) don't still have it somewhere in your regular bank (meaning you never actually dropped it)? If he doesn't well pick it up and decide what you'll do it with it later. If he does, just leave the carrot on the ground until it dissapears. And before you destroy it, does it tell you how you can recover it, if you can recover it at all? I remember destroying some of my old holiday items, and it warned me that I would lose the item, and I would be able to recover it from Diango.
