Tyger! Tyger!

-- William Blake

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forests of the night.

What Immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes?

On what wings dare he aspire?

What the hand, dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder, and what art,

Could twist the sinews of thy heart?

And when thy heart begin to beat,

What dread hand? and what dread feet?

What the hammer? What the chain?

In what furnace was thy brain?

What the anvil? what dread grasp

Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,

And water'd heaven with their tears,

Did he smile his work to see?

Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright,

In the forests of the night.

What Immortal hand or eye

Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

I love this poem. Most people have only heard the first stanza!

Cool, I love lots of songs/poems, etc, but I don't post them, I'm not sure what this thread is about? Maybe if you expand it it'd go off better and have more discussion value, for example your favorite song/poem?

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

Haha, and I've only seen a manipulation of the poem, in the Spidey comic 'Kraven's Last Hunt'.

"Spyder, Spyder,

Burning bright,

In the forests of the Night,

What immortal hand or eye,

could frame thy fearful symmetry...?"

But I don't want to go among mad people!

Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."

Not much discussion value?

Maybe make this a more general poems thread - I know quite a few doing English Lit A-level ::'

Some of my favourite poets are Simon Armitige and Carol Ann Duffy. I did them at GCSE and I found almost all their poems great - not boring and filled with descriptions of pretty landscapes...
