OutwarDragon
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I recently replaced a bad HDD and in the process lost everything but files and folders. After I reinstalled Java and restarted my computer for a few other installations I tried to open RS in standard def which lagged my browser to the near point of freezing for a good 5 minutes. I thought it might have been a bad install so I removed Java and tried to install a lower version (started with update 13 tried update 12) even after trying everything I can think of though when I try to install any version it says there is already Java installed and to remove it first. On my add/remove it still lists Java but there is no folder in my program files for Java so when I try to remove it again it says "fatal error install file not found" but still keeps me from loading ANY version of Java... :( This is kind of killing my RS buzz... I need my fix. Any ideas?
Sam
Make sure you have the latest Java update, Runescape will run best then. If you've wiped your HDD, then the Jagex HD files will have gone too. Firstly, make sure you have these specs: * 1.5 GHz processor or higher * 256MB of RAM or more * 64MB 3D Graphics card, such as Nvidia® GeForce 3 or above * Sun Java 1.4 or higher 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
OutwarDragon
I don't think you quite understand the problem so I will try to explain it better. My old hard drive failed. I had all of my documents backed up and even was able to transfer them to a new harddrive without the backup. After re-installing the needed programs. (Office, Photoshop, Firefox, etc.) I attempted to reinstall Java. After I installed Java to the new drive I had to restart the PC because of all of the installs/Microsoft updates. When the computer booted up I attempted to access my RS account only to be told I needed to install Java. When I look in the control panel there is a "Java" icon and the Add/Remove window lists Java v6.13 or what ever the newest is BUT! the program files folder is now missing the entire Java folder disabling access to any of it. When I try to remove Java it tries to access the missing folder and when it can't, instead of deleting itself it just states "Fatal Error" and closes the uninstall request. If I try to reinstall Java from an install file both online and offline it tells me Java is already there but it cannot over wright the file so I can not reinstall.
