Superheating to 99

Question - Should I superheat Adamant or another "faster" ore?

I mean, is there really any disadvantage to superheating something like gold, which is probably alot quicker than adamant? I'd like to make 99 mage quicker than it's turning out to be with Adamant, but wasn't sure what the pros/cons are to investing in a different type of ore?

uhm gold is like... mega expensive?

First they came to fishing

and I didn't speak out because I wasn't fishing

Then they came to the yews

and I didn't speak out because I didn't cut yews

Then they came for the ores

and I didn't speak out because I didn't collect ores

Then they came for me

and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Then something like iron or whatever. I'm just curious as to why I was advised Adamant (several people in-game) when it is much slower.

After calculating it out, superheating iron bars will cost the same as alching mage longs. So, perhaps it's a better option? Considering you get the smithing experience? Or is it advised to stick with adamant?
