Shouldn't .veg, what Vegas saves it as, and the only way for it for me to save it as, work?

Render as a .mp4 file. Make sure you uncheck the only checked box. Otherwise it wont' work. If it doesn't work after that, tell me. But that fixed it for me both times, I believe.
