September 12, 200520 yr I'm having a problem I've never encountered before with display properties. I'm currently using a shell extension application, and in order to make some of the themes function properly, I need to switch from Classic to XP style. Even with the application killed, and with no other programs running on the desktop, doing so hangs the machine. Short of formatting, I am at a loss to solve the problem. Does anyone have anything they could suggest?

September 14, 200520 yr Author No, it's Blackbox. Mementh, safe mode hung the machine too. I gave up, I'm dealing with it and looking for another theme to use with BB.

Just with a fancy frontend. How that's worth $20 I fail to see.. Ever heard of LiteStep, biox? Supposedly it's really cool, and I think does the same thing blackbox does.. On topic, though, I really don't have any ideas, sorry... Except... have you tried the event log to see if any errors are showing up there?
September 14, 200520 yr Author I used to run LS years ago Wyrm, it is a very good shell. I was thinking about using it when I read that BB does close to the same thing without too much hassle of config, or the risk of replacing system files. BB is easy - run the exe, and it works.
