1.0 Introduction

Ever wanted to have your own tracker but you really have no idea how to use Microsoft Excel?

Well here's the Step By Step Tutorial for you!

1.1 Requirements

You will obviously need Microsoft Excel 2007, it would also work on Microsoft Excel 2003 but I'm showing you the "2007 Way".

2.0 Starting the Tracker

First, open up Microsoft Excel 2007 and Write your Runescape Username the followings:

Your first step is done!

2.1 Getting the Stats from Runescape's Hiscores

Now you will have to extract your Stats from Runescape's Hiscores...

First, go to the second sheet of your workbook.

Then press on the DATA tab and get external data from WEB.

In the address bar, put: http://hiscore.runescape.com/hiscorepersonal.ws?user1=(YOUR USERNAME)

el8qe1.jpg

Then check the little box above your hiscore table...

Then click "Import" at the bottom right of the window...

Then a Message will pop up, just press ok...

You have now loaded your hiscore stats to your workbook!

2.2 Creating the Formulas

You know have to go back onto your first sheet...

Under the Current Exp box, put "=" and click back on your "sheet 2" without clicking anywhere else...

Then Click on your current exp of your desired skill to track.

Then press enter.

Do the same thing but now with your Current Level...

Then, for the % Done to Goal, you need to do the following...

Then press enter and you're done with this step!

2.3 Creating an Update Macro

Now this is where it gets really complicated...

First, go onto the Excel options...

97tduu.jpg

And check the box That says "Show Developer Tab in the Ribbon".

2h87i36.jpg

Now go in the Developer Tab and Click on "Macros Security".

33z5qiv.jpg

Then, enable all Macros...

aaxgkx.jpg

After you've done that, hit ok and Click on the "Record Macro" button.

33jqykz.jpg

Name your Macro "Update" and hit OK.

NOW IT'S VERY IMPORTANT TO DO EXACTLY WHAT I DO AND NOTHING ELSE!!

Click on the Data tab and hit the "Refresh All" button.

2prcqkj.jpg

Then click Stop Recording...

Now, on your Developer's Tab, Click on Insert and then Click on The Form Control Button.

Click and Drag your location and size of your button...

2elzcbn.jpg

And then, select the "Update" Macro and press OK.

You have now created your first Macro in Microsoft Excel 2007!

Congratulations!

2.4 Designing your Tracker

You have finished your tracker but now you have to make it look good!

I won't really get into how to design in Microsoft Excel 2007 but I will just show you a picture of my finished tracker..

You will just have to try the borders colors etc...

This is just something fast I did to show you an example...

3.0 Final Words

In conclusion, this is just the basic of making a Tracker... You can make alot more kinds of trackers with alot more people in it... Just try different things and you'll come up with something good I'm sure!

Thank you!

Thank you for this guide, always wanted to do tracking on excel without the limits of google docs!

But, is there any chance that you can do this a faster way if you wanted to track alot of people? (say for a skilling war of over 20 people?)

I see you have a few wars there in one of the pictures.

And grand exchange merchanting, I know how to do that on google docs aswell, I could never get the right data imported on excel, please show us how to do it? :)

Love the guide, thank you so much. <3:

This is a nice guide, everything is explained nicely. I don't have specific goals atm but if I do, I'll be sure to use this :)
