So recently i downloaded a new intel graphics driver. This wasn't a random download, i was told to do it. So i downloaded this driver, installed it for windos Xp, rebooted, and low and behold.....a Problem! who would have thought... My computer is now stuck on 4 bit color, i cant view any movies, play games etc. I have tried all i can think of, and have failed miserably. I emailed support but ive come not to expect much from them. So im begging of anybody, can you help me?

have you tried doing a driver rollback?

I have the same chipset, and I installed the video driver just fine. Have you tried using system restore?

System restore? wouldn't that wipe my hard drive? thats the last thng im going to do, im waiting to see if i can find the correct driver. or do i have the correct driver and need to do something else? Ill give it another day before i use system restore.

You should have the right driver; it came out on 8/31, correct?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And no, system restore doesn't wipe your hard drive. Your computer makes images of itself and makes checkpoints once in a while. Using system restore will use the image saved from a few days ago, and restore it to that point.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There's probably a saved point that will bring your computer back to it's original state named "Installed Intel Video Driver", or something of the sort.
