So maybe someone can help me out. It should be of note than I use a wireless adapter for accessing wi-fi

 

 

 

This problem happened first last night, when my connection stopped working. no biggie, its happened before; so I did the unplug thing and when I booted back up, it worked... for maybe fifteen minutes. It then abruptly cut off connection again, even though it says I am connected to the network (excellent strength, heh). So I try repairing it using the 'repair' feature but to no avail. Someone else on my wi-fi network tried accessing, and they got it fine, with it never cutting out. Every time I boot up the internet stays conencted for maybe twenty minutes then drifts away. I'm thinking its the adapter, but I'm reluctant to buy a new one as it would be my FOURTH adapter in four or so years.

after having a couple of Zone Alarm errors (its a firewall) and trying out playing World of Warcraft and instant messenger, I have found the problem only exists on things involving a web browser. I'm thinking its the Zone Alarm as it appears to have 'blown up', but my attempts to delete it are met with an error message saying I'm not allowed to delete the file. Uninstallation is impossible since the program is corrupt.

What's the equivalent of 'sudo' on Windows? Couldn't he uninstall it using that sort of script? Or download a force uninstaller?

Boot up in safe mode and get rid of all its data from program files. Then log into regular windows, type "msconfgig" into the run dialouge(win key + r) and delete all refrences to zone alarm in the startup and services tab.

well, I managed to figure it out actually. After doing some snooping around on the zonealarm forums I found they had their own uninstaller, and sure enough it worked. This of course was after mscofig, safe mode, and one other uninstaller that failed nubishly, all on top of having to restart maybe 5-6 times. Kind of annoying that zone alarm just like exploded lol
