Meleeing Barrows (and other questions).

Featured Replies

Currently, I'm slayer darting barrows with a Helm of Nietznot and Verac's Brassard and Plateskirt. I was wondering how much more difficult it would be to simply melee most of barrows in this setup with a whip, slayer darting Dharok's if he was in my tunnel (would this help at all, or would I just be better of drinking a sip of a pray potion and meleeing him?). Also, could anyone give me numbers on the cost of using a black salamander there, and if that's worth it?

I have:

  •
    [*:2hl2yfx5]84 Hitpoints

    [*:2hl2yfx5]83 Attack

    [*:2hl2yfx5]83 Strength

    [*:2hl2yfx5]80 Defense

    [*:2hl2yfx5]81 Magic

    [*:2hl2yfx5]70 Prayer

Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond.

Meleeing would be more difficult. It will take longer and you'd end up getting less chests a trip. If you do end up meleeing though, I think Verac's is better.

Do the brothers just have an extremely high melee defense? Because I could normally hit much better with a whip than what I've been doing with slayer dart.

Also, one more question that shows what a complete barrows noob I am (I've really only done about 6 trips).

Less chests a trip implies more than one.. How should I go about this? Just drink a dose of prayer potion after my first chest and go do Dharok and Karil? Currently, I just use a house teletab after my 1st chest, recharge prayer, and portal to Canifis.

Sorry, I'll also edit in stats if that helps.

Oh.. So you only get 1 chest a trip anyway? What's your inventory look like for Barrows?

Edit: What do you usually have left after you open the chest?

I have deaths, minds, my enhanced excalibur, house tablets, a spade, a rune crossbow, black d'hide chest and chaps, 1 prayer potion, and the rest pineapple pizzas.

Normally, I still have the full prayer pot and have eaten about 8 pizzas; if I have a Dharok tunnel, I'll have three doses left.

Your stats are low for meleeing, I get by with my stats but I still have long kills sometimes. I'd stick to magic and banking every task, but thats just me.

Corporeal Drops:2xHoly elixers

Bandos Drops: Bcp(soloed) 5x hilts 8x tassets

Armadyl Drops:Armadyl Hilt(trio)

Zamorak Drops: 2xZamorakian spear 3x Steam battlestaff

Bring 2-4 prayer pots and try going 2-3 chests. Run out of the tunnels after you're done, then drink 2 doses of prayer pot and just do the same thing again.

Okay, so I won't melee. Does anyone have any experience with using a salamander?

Salamanders are ok, but you lose out on the nice tunnel safespots, which if used correctly save food or prayer doses per run.
