My sister supplied this information after doing the quest yesterday. I am unable to edit this guide. - pokemama

Here's my attempt at a revision -- dunno if this helps. Like I said, the main thing that I got messed up on was that you should ONLY do tasks for ONE company or you will be there all day and not get the quest done.

Btw Rune HQ says you can also talk to the companies on the EAST side of the river, but I tried and they were all kind of rude to me. I don't know why.

Guide now shows:

"Now that you have given the three items to the sculptor, he will tell you that he needs to know what the head should look like. He wants you to go find someone at the consortium (on the second floor in the centre/marketplace on the west side of the river). Speak to the secretary of any of the companies and do one of their tasks. The choice of company is up to you. Once you've finished this task, go back to do another one. You'll need to do a total of 5-10 tasks (random). A good method is to take a lot of one of the possible ores they ask for (like clay, for example), and every time you get a job that isn't that ore, you can walk away from the conversation when you are at the conversation screen where they tell you your job. If you walk away like that, then you will not lose any favor. You can also buy the ores from the great furnace shop in the city. After doing all of the jobs from the secretary, you may request to talk with the director. Ask the director about joining the company, and he'll tell you that you need to prove yourself. So do a few tasks for the director, and then ask him about joining (note that yellow company only hires females and the brown company only hires men). Once you've joined, tell him that Blasidar sent you, and that you'll support having his head on the statue. Talk to Veldaban once again, and you will be asked to go with him to a meeting, this is a very well made cut scene, so choose to see the whole meeting, not just the notes. After that you should be done. Congratulations!"

Revision:

Now that you have given the three items to the sculptor, he will tell you that he needs to know what the head should look like. He wants you to go ask the directors of the Consortium (on the second floor in the centre/marketplace on the west side of the river).

You will need assorted ores for this part of the quest. You can mine some ores in Keldagrim or buy them from the Blast Furnace shop in the southeast part of the city. See also Tips and Tricks below. The Consortium directors won't even talk to you at first. You will need to first prove yourself to the secretary before you can join one of the companies. The choice of company is up to you, but only choose one. (Note that the Yellow Fortune company only hires females and the Brown Engine company only hires men). Speak to the secretary of any of the companies and he/she will ask you to bring him/her a number of ores. Once you've brought the ores, ask the secretary for another task. You'll need to do a total of 5-10 tasks (random) before the secretary will refer you to the director.

Ask the director about joining the company, and s/he'll tell you that you need to prove yourself. So do a few tasks for the director. These will require bars. When you have proven yourself, you can ask about joining. Once you've joined, tell him/her that Blasidar sent you, and that you'll support having his/her head on the statue.

Talk to Commander Veldaban once again, and you will be asked to go with him to a meeting. Whether or not you watch the cutscene, you will receive the meeting notes. After that you should be done. Congratulations!

Add to Tips and Tricks: A good method is to take a lot of one of the possible ores they ask for (like clay, for example), and every time you get a job that isn't that ore, you can walk away from the conversation when you are at the conversation screen where they tell you your job. If you walk away like that, then you will not lose any favor. After doing all of the jobs from the secretary, he/she will tell you to ask the director for tasks.

it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*.

The main bit looked pretty good as outlined here, but I've made a few grammatical changes to help it flow a bit more smoothly.

The note about taking several of a single type of ore has been moved to the tips and tricks section, but it seems a bit wordy in its current form.
