Deathmath
Alright guys, posted it before the forum change, and forgot to save it. This is my current build not including the stuff you guys added...http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWishDetail.aspx?WishListNumber=11056925 You guys added some stuff...A different ASUS video card (I agree)A different PSU (More expensive, not sure)Different RAM (It's faster)Different MOBO (Have no idea why. It's cheaper, but seems lower quality (just looking at numbers Please explain why) And I still need a wireless card. And should I get a cheapish sound card. My onboard sound right now is bad, but I don't have any idea how much better it will be on the new mobo. Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again
JoeDaStudd
mmmm I forgot to save the links I posted Anyway this tier list should help you with the psu questionhttp://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=108088Always aim for the highest tier your budget will allow for. The motherboard was from a purely gaming point of view a step down, but from a futureproofing and bang for buck point of view its the best AM3 motherboard for your budget. The other one was more of a gaming chipset with dual PCI-Express slots, but without you must have the best gaming rig out there a single slot is more then enough. The DDR2 ram slots on the one in your list will end up costing you more money in the long run if you choose to upgrade the ram (since DDR3 will get cheaper and DDR2 more expensive). You wanted a wifi card which supports a certain distro right?Select any PCI one from the supported list and you should be good to go (there all pretty much the same in my eyes). As for the sound I would, like I stated before the forum switch, try onboard first then order one after if you feel the need.Until you start spending $100+ on a sound card you won't be able to tell any difference between onboard and a separate card. This was the original motherboard I linkedhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128392This would an alternative if you wanted the extra PCI-Express slothttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135236 The ram I linked would only work with the AM3 motherboards anyway this was the ramhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148262 This was the gpuhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121325 And this was the "expensive" psuhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004 [hide=Drops]Dragon Axe x11Berserker Ring x9Warrior Ring x8SeercullDragon MedDragon Boots x4 - all less then 30 kcGodsword Shard (bandos)Granite Maul x 3Solo only - doesn't include barrows[/hide][hide=Stats][/hide]
Deathmath
Helpful, thanks about the sound card. The onboard on this old and junky computer has static, is pretty bad. If it's just the PCI slot difference/a slight difference then mobo is good :) I'll get the ddr3 I'll check out the PSU info :geek: Thoroughly retired, may still write now and again
