hotdogcore
"Earns fast experience points. Cutting it does not produce items. It grows on city walls:" Cutting the Ivy DOES produce bird's nests, just like trees. :) I just thought this should be mentioned, since you don't get any raw materials, and also because I've gotten several nests in rather quick succession containing seeds from Acorn to Palm Tree and one containing a Zamorak Egg.It *seems* to drop nests at a slightly faster rate than all other trees. Possibly because there is no raw material acquired?I was wearing a rabbit's foot amulet. More investigation may be warranted.
Serpent Eye
Hello, hotdogcore! Thanks very much for your submission - we really appreciate when users take the time to get involved! By "Cutting it does not produce items," we're meaning that no items are spawned into your inventory as you cut the Ivy, the way that logs appear in your inventory as you cut down trees. It's important to mention this fact because, unlike other trees, this means that you can continue to cut the Ivy, even if your inventory is full of other items! It's a unique and fast way to train Woodcutting in this regard, because you aren't having to constantly bank or drop the logs you would normally aquire. Bird's nests are items that appear at random while cutting the various trees, and aren't really Ivy-specific. However, with that said, I'll look into seeing how we can reword that particular ("Cutting it does not...") part of the guide, for clarification purposes. I'm leaving this topic unlocked for now, so please feel free to post any comments here in a reply, or shoot them to me via a PM. As always, we appreciate any and all input! Thanks so much. - SerpentEye
hotdogcore
I do know that it's meant specifically for the raw materials, but I do think it's beneficial to know that they drop SOMETHING. Ivy isn't a tree, so some may not be aware that it drops nests. Due to the new update, the higher level woodcutters may have decided to use the lumber yard mini game, and not know that the ivy is beneficial in it's own way. From what I can tell, and have read up on, the lumber yard is more experience per hour, however you gain nothing but experience. The Ivy is great experience, and also drops the nests, which makes it worth more to some. If not changing the entry, possibly just an asterisk with a note underneath would let players know. Serpent Eye
hotdogcore, Again, thanks so much for your submission and additional comments! The section regarding Ivy has been clarified a bit, letting our users know that they can receive bird nest drops whilst cutting Ivy. These changes should appear momentarily on the site, and you've been credited. Locking this topic now -- If you have any further concerns or questions, please PM them to me! Thanks, - SerpentEye
