October 19, 200520 yr I cannot figure out what type of motherboard I have. I tried the crucial system scanner, didnt work. It said 'pmg we cannot detect ur motherboard lollerz BUY OUR MEMRY NOWZ' And it also reported that I can hold 4gb of RAM, when my manual says I can only hold 2gb  I tried Belarc's advisor, it told me I had: Board: Intel Corporation D915GRO [serial # here] but I tried searching the Intel main site for that board^^ Nothing came up. I dont know what to do now :x I have 512 mb already, but I want to get another gig of RAM, but my board is VERY picky about what kind of RAM I use, since I bought a set of 2x512 last time (I have 4 open ram slots), and I thought it was compatible, but surprise surprise, my computer spat it out like sour milk. I DONT KNOW WHAT RAM I CAN TAKE this is getting very frustrating, and I dont know what else to do. I *THOUGHT* I could take 184 PINN, DDR 400MHZ RAM but no, I cant, and I am at a dead end. :wall:
October 20, 200520 yr Sounds like aren't the only person with said problems: http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/s ... post165806 My suggestion: get a new motherboard. It'll save you a LOT of trouble later on that's for sure :-?
October 20, 200520 yr Author Heh, that was me back when I ordered some RAM, and it didnt work. So that was me :D I also try to get help there too.
October 20, 200520 yr Press F2 during startup to view the bios menu (might be another key depending on ya pc) which tells ya most things. Then google the resulting Motherboard name if you want info on it.
October 21, 200520 yr I already did search google for it. I've got more hits searching for random letter combinations which don't even make a real word.
October 21, 200520 yr You could always open your case up, take out the ram and see if it has a sticker on it with the speeds of the ram and things like that. If you can find that, you could probably then go and buy more ram that matches the one thats already in your system and they should work Or, you could look on the motherboard and see if you can find a brand name or something along those lines. With luck, you might find the actual model of the mother board you have then you can stick it into google and hopefully find out what you need to know. This is probably what id do to find out what your looking for. Hope that helps.
October 21, 200520 yr Author Thanks for all the replies, I will just take out a stick of RAM and look at it...Dunno why I did not think of that first :wall:
