Guest andyizcool
Might be a RAM issue. Do you know how much RAM you have? Have you got enough RAM to be running your Operating System and the Internet? Are you running anything else?
2pac
Something like 256 I think, there is alot of restrictions on it so you can't really see alot of the stats. Works just fine with wireless internet though...I'm thinking the modem is screwing it up... Sometimes it works fine for days and sometimes I can't stay on the internet for 5 mins :( btw just now it froze while the modem was dialing, and that was the only thing I was running go cowboys
Guest andyizcool
Definitely sounds like a modem problem then. Did you install the modem and its drivers properly? You could try disabling your wireless Internet while you try and connect through the modem.
2pac
hmm well it was installed by the school, and I don't know if they did it properly...I'll try turning off the wireless and then using it when I get home, I'm on wireless atm Ty for the help go cowboys
Guest andyizcool
Just double checking something. You say you have a dial up at home. Does your laptop have a built in modem or did you buy a dial up modem for it? Because the wireless connection you use at school won't work at home unless you have a modem router to send out a wireless signal.
weezcake
Try looking for a more updated driver at http://www.driverguide.com username: driver2 pw: all Maybe you have an old outdated driver that's incompatible with something. Might work. ==================================Retired tip.it moderator.Teaching and inspiring.
2pac
The modem is built in, and I know the wireless won't work, that's why I got dialup for it. Up until a few months ago my neighbors had unsecured wireless internet and I was using it lol, that rocked :) But they moved... I am running it w/ the wireless antenna off atm, it's not frozen yet...hopefully that works :) If it doesn't I'll look into updating the driver go cowboys

addy--cady
Wow you guys are lucky... Where the heck do you live??? My school doesn't even have enough funds to upgrade our APCS computers  . But yes, please share what school you go to... *Grabs crowbar and looting kit and heads t'wards the schools lockers* well, if your problem persists, take it to your tech and ask him to re-install your OS. Guest andyizcool
take it to your tech and ask him to re-install your OS. Don't ever do that unless you have a really serious problem. Everything can be fixed without re-installing your OS unless it's something like out of control viruses and such.
2pac
I don't trust our tech people lol. Every time I give my computer to them, they fix the problem, but something else turns up the very next day grrr. I've been running it for a few days w/ antenna off, everything is working gr8 :D My school website is http://www.irvingisd.net I live in Irving, Texas btw (suburb of Dallas) WE RULE :D go cowboys
