Best non-powertraining methods?

Mischlings

Recommended Posts

Basically, I don't like powertraining gathering skills. By that, I mean that dropping what I gather is, to me, just a waste. I know that, opportunity cost wise, they're the best, but they're just not my style. So, what are the best methods for gathering skills that don't involve dropping everything I gather?

Fishing: Monkfish, then rocktails?

Woodcutting: I'm pretty sure that ivy wins here

Mining: Concentrated gold?

Hunter: Red chinchompas, I'm pretty sure

Am I right, or are there better methods? For reference, my levels in those skills are 81 84 86 and 73.

May I ask why you hate powertraining, but for wc your thinking of doing ivy?

Do teaks/euqs/willows, if you don't like powertraining.

As for the other skills, your methods are fine.

Hi if you're reading this you are amazing and I love you.

Maybe they'll release a bugless update for April Fools. That'd sure be a joke

By powertraining, I'm sure he means "no dropping" or "no excessive clicking", not "no fast xp".

Great to see you around man, been a while :)

To answer your question, you pretty much got it all right. Maybe I would go to the Sawmill instead of Ivy. It's more concentration, but better xp, and still doesn't involve heavy clicking (and is still multitask-able, just not as MUCH as ivy).

Concentrated Gold is the way to go for mining. I recommend mining it on world 84, since it is the "unofficial" world. My estimate is that there is 100 or so people down in the caverns on that world, so you will rarely, if ever, take damage. I'm also working on a mining guide (currently in Beginning Guides). It's not totally finished, but the "Mining for Profit" section is, so perhaps something in there will interest you. But to be frank, at 85+ mining you either want to do rune, granite, or concentrated gold if you mine at all. Oh, you should also mine stars. They are great xp and good profit, and they are also fun. I strongly recommend it.

For fishing, you could also switch to Cavefish when you can, instead of doing Monks until Rocktail. Like Concentrated Gold, fish these in world 84 so you take the least damage by the Living Rock Guardians.

For hunter, red chins is really the ONLY good way to train hunter above level 80. However, I believe Jagex said it is working on improving the Imp-Catching minigame. So if you have patience and are willing to gamble a little, you could wait till they release that in a few months.

See you around :)

I agree with it all, but something i saw a lot lately is that people are hunting Pawyas and Grenwalls and coming back with some decent rates. I heard something like 80-90k exp an hour hunting them both. And since the spikes will sell they can make some money too. But you also need papayas to catch the Pawyas, and those seem to cost some money atm.

You can remedy the Papaya problem (somewhat) with a Fruit Bat. There's an unlimited source (or at least, as much as you take) and is a lot cheaper than just buying the fruit.

Hit the nail on the head there. Dropping and excessive clicking drive me insane (see the fact that I've gained two mining levels since that blog I had ever so long ago), so I try to use the best methods that avoid that. Dropping also seems wasteful.

Yes, it has been a while. I'm not back for good, I don't think -- college probably won't let me.

I'm not entirely sure what to do about fishing -- Shilo seems good, but I don't know what level I should do that until -- I know that I want to go after rocktails eventually, but I don't know exactly when switching over to them would be a good idea. Should I switch right at 90, or wait longer?

Concentrated gold is amazing -- decent money and almost afk mining experience -- would've really come in handy when I was going for 85, but I'm glad we have it now.

Shilo really isn't that great. Monkfish aren't much slower, and you get like 200k more profit.
