Saru Inc
What's up. So, my next semester in college starts up in January. I signed up for Yoga, because well, it was either that, or Jazzercise from 6:30 am-7:30 am. [bleep] no. But also it's a great teacher, which is good. Anyways, the whole point of the topic: Is there anything I can do to prepare for the class? I'm pretty inflexible at the moment, but this is a beginner's course. So yea, any good methods of increasing flexibility? Or maybe some techniques I can start? I googled it first, and got some wierdddddd pages. Umm idk if this matters but: I'm 6'4"I weigh 270 ish, but am now starting to actually work out hah.For the last two weeks or so, I'vve been running 1.3 miles a day (it's the length of our neighborhood loop) and walking .2miles after that to "cool down" in a sense.I do not have access to a gym (not enough money) but I can afford simple things such as mats and such.I work 8 hours a day constantly standing moving around, and lifting 50 lbs objects 5 days a weekI don't really do much exercising i.e. situps etc, but I can if it'll help. Thanks for the help =D I have all the 99s, and have been playing since 2001. stevepole
It's yoga you don't really need to be in prefect shape to do it and you say it is a beginners course so they are going to expect you not to know much. The only real way to prepare for a yoga class is to practice yoga on your own really.

assassin_696
You sound fairly physically active with what you're doing and in reasonable shape, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. As with many of these things, it's probably better to go as a complete beginner and learn things correctly first time round than trying to learn things in advance and not getting them right. chaossviper
Well, i don't believe you need any prior training or any certain fitness level for yoga. The yoga program in my school is more or less a joke, as they do absolutly nothing and half the kids just lay on the mats and sleep. Given, the class size in my school is about 50 to a class, so theres not much cooperation and the teachers don't even care, so the students are allowed to do nothing. In your yoga program i would imagine you will be doing mainly steches, so beforehand you may want to stretch out for a week or so, just to make your body prepared for it. Again, I don't know about your yoga program, but if it's anything like my schools program, it's a joke. Click here to become a Fan of an awesome Facebook page!
