Aggressive monsters

Featured Replies

what does the difference between my level and a monsters level have to be before they become non-aggressive?

Normally its the monsters lvl double + 1, thats the combat you need for them to be unaggressive. One example are Wild Dogs in Brimhaven Dungeon. They are 63 combat, when you're at 127+ combat they are aggressive (63 x 2 + 1 = 127). Some places this isn't true, such as the Wildy and GWD, where in the Wildy all monsters are aggresive despire combat levels and in GWD if you wear certain items they won't attack.

GWD:

CS: Zamorakian Spear x2, Zamorak Hilt x1, Bandos Chestplate x1, Sara Sword x1

DKs: Dragon Hatchet x3 Beserker Ring x1[/hide]

Those are special locations, but there are other exceptions as well.

Certain monsters, even in "normal" locations, are always aggressive to all players. For example, Flesh Crawlers (level 28 being the lowest) and Giant Spiders (level 50) in the SoS are aggressive to ALL players, even 138 ones. Meanwhile, other monsters in the SoS, such as Zombies, etc. behave like normal aggressive monsters. This violation of the "double + 1" rule doesn't really have an explanation.

You just need to know that some monsters do not follow the "double + 1" rule. Most monsters (outside of those special locations) do.

okay well I was just wondering cause I'm mining at the coal trucks, and I kept getting attacked by the bats so thanks :P

BTW zaaps, I love all your guides and I've read them over atleast 10 times each :P

Thanks I'm glad they are helpful!

I have a mining one in the works as well. It's in the beginning guides forum and the section on mining for profit is done, if you wanna check that out it might be useful as well.

Yeah those bats should obey the "double + 1" rule.
