Help? FF won't load certain sites?

It'll load the homepage of Facebook, but when I try to login in it gives the 'Problem loading page' error. If I refresh, it continues to do so.

If I go directly to GMail, it also gives that error. If I try to get to GMail via Google, it does it too. I can't sign into Google from the homepage either.

Twitter won't let me login either; I can view the homepage, but not login.

I can't login on YouTube, but I can view the homepage.

I recently cleared my cookies (yesterday), and I've tested other sites (TinyPic, Amazon, Wikipedia, Last.fm) and they all work.

Upon restarting Firefox it still doesn't work. I'm running 3.5.

Sounds a bit like you have something unwanted on your system, are you able to log into these sites on another PC, if so, the first thing I would do is to change your passwords.

The next thing to do is to ditch Nortons (I read on another thread that is what you have) I would download Google Chrome too, it's an excellent, fast secure browser. I would also get Microsoft Security essentials and do a complete scan of your PC removing anything it finds before you try and log on to any sites in case you have some form of key logger or info collection trojans on your PC...

By the way, removing Nortons can be a pain as it always leaves lots of rubbish behind, so try using Revo Uninstaller as this will search for anything left over which you can remove after Norton's uninstaller has completed.

/- edit (upon further thinking) Do you have have "cookies" box unchecked under the options?

It is a direct problem with Firefox itself and cannot be solved by doing any of the normal stuff. My suggestion would be to go back to Firefox 3.0.

Here are some of the problems I have been having with Firefox as of late(v3.5.5).

1. Pages that rely heavily on javascript will sometimes fail to load properly multiple times.

2. Secondary windows that act as feeds(are applets for a site) will cause the browser to crash.

Oops sorry you're right, and I haven't tried the latest FF as I have settled on Chrome these days. I have FF 3.0 of my works machine only because printing frames is easier than with Chrome. Well we're never too old to learn :)

Do you know if there's an add-on anyone has created to prevent or attempt to prevent this?

I can't get rid of Norton, and I barely got rid of IE6. And I can't downgrade to FF3, nor do I particularly want to, even if it solves my problem; the pros of 3.5 are worth the random refusals to load pages.
