How can I boot Into Linux Mint from USB Flash Drive on a computer that can't boot from USB?

Featured Replies

I checked the system BIOS and I'm sure this computer doesn't have the ability to boot from a USB flash drive - it is fairly old, afterall.

Do you know of any way (program or whatever) to get this computer the ability to boot from my USB Flash drive like my other computers can?

It would be especially good if you knew of a way I could do it without having to install anything to my computer but rather to my USB flash drive so I can boot from any computer whether or not the computer has the ability.

P.S. I know I could do it from a CD, but I wanna know if there's a way I can do without.

Unless you can find an updated BIOS somewhere, I don't believe there is any way to boot from USB. But it 's most likely possible to start linux from a USB stick when you're already in Windows (if you want a private session or something like that). Whichever method you want to use really depends on what you need it for. (I have DSL on a usb stick for public computers so I don't have to worry about security)
