  1. The main draw of climbing boots was their stats for the low price. Because they were easily obtainable and cheap, their loss meant nothing. By raising the price of boots, their loss becomes more significant. That is a minor problem. The major problem with the update is the alchemy value of the boots (45K). because this artificial value is so high, in some cases the boots protect on death over better equipment, and are consequently rendered useless. The second problem is that of the cash injection. This problem is worse than the first, simply because it affects more areas of the economy. Essentially what JaGEx has done is artifically created billions of gp of wealth for a few individuals. Besides being inequitable, this causes some inflation, and could affect the rare market. We have seen huge cash injections before (PVP artefacts, etc), however most of these were somewhat evenly distributed, leading to an overall increase in gp/player (if not wealth). Potentially more devastating than the cash injection is the inevitable knee-jerk reaction of the RS market. Since everyone knows about the increase in overall gp, what we have on our hands is panicked players who will raise prices even without the help of the injected cash (I've seen this happen many times). So essentially, Jagex tried to make climbing boots more accessible to everyone, and not only rendered them unusable, but also unbalanced the economy and caused a market panic. All in all a fairly average update. :)
  2. Mine's yellow. It looks a bit similar to a bee, because of the stripes.

    Ubuntu

I would agree that Wubi is probably the best for you right now. Since you already have the CD, just pop it in when you're already in Windows. The installer should pop up An install with Wubi is good 'cause it's almost impossible to screw up your system and it's easy to get rid of if you don't want it anymore. you just uninstall it from within windows.
  4. It really depends on what you want to use it for. 1st one: better graphics 2nd one: better memory 3rd one: better processor personally I'd choose the second one, because I don't really care about gaming features.
  5. Also if you haven't done this yet, make sure you have the proper and most recent graphics driver. (If it's an ATI card it might not work terribly well)
  6. The Ubuntu live CDs don't include flash or java (because of licensing issues), so unless you made a custom CD (Which is a huge pain), you won't be able to run RS from it. And in any case, running from a live CD is slow. I'd suggest just making a real small partition for a dual boot (just a GB or 2 more than the install takes) so it's not wasting much space and it'll run at full speed.
  7. Unless you can find an updated BIOS somewhere, I don't believe there is any way to boot from USB. But it 's most likely possible to start linux from a USB stick when you're already in Windows (if you want a private session or something like that). Whichever method you want to use really depends on what you need it for. (I have DSL on a usb stick for public computers so I don't have to worry about security)
  8. This is my favourite outfit to go about in, mostly because of all the disparaging comments I receive. Yes, my outfit is a troll
  9. All available data (which isn't much tbh) points to about 1:5000 chance for a challenge scroll. 72-73-21-56997049 <- Probably the most "Official" RSOF CC thread.
  10. roanlo is right, you simply talk to the curator (after defeating the new leprechaun champion).
  11. I noticed that a while ago, I suppose it's simply to keep the vines/roots from clipping with your cape and looking bad.
  12. It's been fixed for 3 days at least. I tried a second time and got to Jad easily, he even melee'd me (i didnt have pray on) twice, without me dying, but he finally KO'd me when I was luring healers <_< . Ah well... better luck next time I hope.
  13. it's ongoing. if you time it right you can msb spec twice in a row In that case, it would still be possible to double spec with dark bow (and pot). Jagex changed dark bow to use up 65% of bar, in an attempt to avoid double specs, but if you time it right (like the example of msb spec), you'll be able to Spec (100-65=35), Drink pot (35+25=60), then have a bit of your SA energy recharged for the extra 5% needed. Dbow pkers will simply have to use an ongoing timer to measure spec recharge. Another thought: Jagex has set a new precedent for untradeable equipment (perhaps in an attempt to discourage merch clans). One might gain smithing levels, for the odd chance that Jagex releases untradeable weapons which must be self-made (smithing prices would skyrocket).
  14. Quick question in regards to special attack energy. Does it refill based on a ongoing timer (similar to skills and hp), or does it only start refilling once you've emptied some?
  15. Abberant spectres drop herbs a lot. You could also use a macaw's herbcall scroll (if you have the proper summoning level). Moss giants often drop herb seeds which you can farm and then use. (probably a lot more monsters I can't think of do also)
  16. So now DBow is much less useful for people without the required herblore level? Great job Jagex <_<
  17. I got 112cb with this level, but it didn't show up for some reason. Also my new outfit:
  18. Just saw a lvl 133 named "Toilet Humor", spirit tree'd away before I could get pic.
  19. Probably wouldn't of noticed it except he was mining gem rocks.
  20. If you talk to your company boss, you can do a task for him and he'll bribe the guards not to attack you while you're pickpocketing.
