I'm using it for barrows atm and I wanted to know if I need a mage/range bonus for it to be most effective or does it not matter?

Bonuses apply to it like any weapon. At barrows, however, they don't really matter because the brothers have such low magic (range for Ahrim) defense you'll be hitting nearly all the time anyway.

Just keep your mage attack bonus above -30.

Thnx, I pretty much got the barrows thing figured out now, tonight so far I got Dh helm and legs, and then I just got guth spear. =D
