How Would a Control 'Pure' Fair?

Featured Replies

I guess such an account would hardly meet the definition of pure, but what I mean is

99 Atk, Str, Def, and possibly Rng/Mag since they don't seem to add any additional combat levels. (113 combat, according to Tip.It's combat calculator.)

So, really, just an account with absolutely no Prayer and no Summoning.

I'm sure it's been done before, but was it successful?

~ Videos or links?

Is there a more formal name for this kind of account?

What 'staple' items could an account without Prayer or Summoning absolutely not get?

As in, even if it's rather difficult without protection Prayers, it's still possible, or it's not possible because you would get Prayer or Summoning XP no matter what...

It would appear to be rather, ineffective for PKing.

Let's take a Barrows pure.

99 Attack

99 Strength

70 Defence

99 HP

70 Prayer

That is level 115, two levels above yours, and would have access to Piety, and most of the same armours as you, now, if we take you both being in "welfare" gear, without the fire cape, the BP would be able to hit 42 with the whip, and you'd hit 36 max. Whilst Piety would give him an effective 87.5 defence level (which would probably round to 87.)

Not to mention he would be more accurate, and probably more likely to hit you.

So, would it be effective? No, I do not think so.

Wow! Thanks for that!

Pretty much answered all my questions...

Both would have access to Vengeance without extra combat levels, right?

Mm... If we knew how armor bonuses translate to Defense levels we could probably figure out how much of a help Vesta/Statius/Dragonfire Shields would be... (Almost said Divine but I caught myself! )

I guess an account like the one I described wouldn't be necessarily useful for anything unless/until they release 80+ Defense armor or weapons that require Defense levels.

It would still have a slight advantage over 'main' accounts of a comparable level, though, I think...

Yes, both would have access to Vengeance without adding extra combat levels. At least, I'm sure they would. Not too sure about Quest EXP.

Though, even adding in the better armours, the difference in defences is probably little, and combat is pretty much luck based as it is.

If I'm right in guessing how Piety works, then the BP would have an effective attack level of 141. Now, if you consider Super Defence potions, that'd put you at 118 Defence, and the BP, potting and Piety, would have an effective defence level of 106.

So, in the end, you'd have a 12 level Defence advantage, whilst he would have a 23 Attack level advantage over your attack level.

Or, to put it otherwise, you'd have 12 attack levels over his defence, whilst he'd have 23 attack levels over your defence. This to me seems to be a huge advantage, that won't really be offset by using more effective armour.

And playerkill with a combat bracelet? No..

70 defence and prayer will be much better than 99 defence and no prayer. I used to have a staker, 90/88/70 with 1 prayer, when they removed staking i tried bounty hunter and everyone ripped right through me using boosting prayers.
