ok, first piece of graphical work i've done in a while, thought i'd throw it up here.

Its an 800x200 sig pic for a friend of mine, he just wanted something generic he could use on multiple gaming forums.

so heres a little render I did, mostly just me messing around with the clouds in terragen 2. This just happened to be what i did last, getting a fairly level low lying cloud bank with mountain peaks through the top.

I'm next trying to get the effect you see on summers days when there pollen in the air or particles of some kinda and you can see the straight beams of light through the clouds, can't get the light to stay in rigid lines, though, keeps dispersing after it comes through. any tips anyone?

Looks exactly like what you get when you take a early morning flight out from where I live on a cloudy day. It's absolutely stunning, and you captured it quite well. Try a little less sun/orange, it's quite overwhelming.

yer, the only problem is due to the fact my desktop is out of action at the moment, i'm running entirely off my laptop, so I had to flick the quality down a bit, or else it would've take days :s when I get my desktop back up, I'll do a higher res/quality render of it.

The problems with the sun for me is that I'm still trying to figure out how the controls on the sun work. So other than colour, heading and direction, I'm not doing too much, and I can't find any really nice tutorials for it.

hmmm, I'll have a little play with cloud depth when I get home, didn't think about that. on other news, dropped my overnight render onto my phone and just uploaded it.

for some reason, the bottom of the clouds that have been lit up are really grainy, all of the quality settings are at max, gi is at 4, which is the highest I've ever used before, and they've never come out like this. oh well. c/c and tips anyone?
