David's Tower of Life Guide My name is David. I recently rediscovered a .. pretty unknown part of Runescape. I noticed the following sentence: Chance of getting even more noted drops at Tower of LifeThis sentence got me thinking. The Tower of Life was once used to gather various items at. The problem was, inventories filled up rather quick. This was before summoning, before the Ardougne cloak. Before any useful tools. Now, may I say years later, it got improved. I decided it was time to put all those updates into work. What I discovered were some useful things. Especially on the level of some hard to get items. O well, let us just start. Hopefully you may find some new information here which can assist you in your Runescape experience. Oh by the way, did I mention the money yet? 1 ) Table of ContentsThe Tower of Life questArdougne Diaries The Tower of Life QuestBefore any of this guide can be used, there is a requirement. A reasonably short and easy quest named (conveniently): Tower of Life. I am not going to go into this quest, but a full guide can be found HERE [Hide= Required / Reward]Required: Skills: Level 10 ConstructionItems: Beer, hammer, sawReward: * 1000 Construction Experience * 500 Crafting Experience * 500 Thieving Experience * Access to Creature Creation[/hide] Ardougne DiariesThe Ardougne Diaries are the biggest reason why I made this guide. The reward is a cape, a very useful item. Other then attack bonuses (Slash), it also has the following benefits. Below I will list all the requirements , rewards etc. The interesting thing I must point out, where lies the usefulness about this item, is that it has an increasing chance to give noted items as drop from Creature Creation. Before we go further into this, the information about how to get these capes. The basement can be found in the back of the groundfloor. The Homunculus, which you encountered during the quest, is able to creature creatures for you. In order to create these creatures (not Summon), you will have to sacrifice a combination of two (2) items on their specific Life Altar. In this part of the guide, I shall explain how this process goes into work and which combination's are to be used at which Life Altar. All the Life Altars look similar and can only be distinguished by 'Inspecting' each of them. [Hide=Example picture of the Life Altar] The Life Altars all look alike and work in the same way. By inspecting them, you get a picture and text of both items required in order to create the creature. This specific altar is made for the Newtroost and uses a Newt Eye and a Feather (of chicken, meaning a plain feather).[/hide] By simply using the items on the Altar, you get a message saying: ''you have all the materials nessecary to active this altar!'' When you then click 'Activate - Life Altar (see example picture), you get the following message: When you click 'Continue', the creature will then spawn in the room a few squares away from you. You will be frozen for a very short moment, while the creature moves towards you. The fight starts there. In the next part of the guide, I will go deeper into each monster. The Creatures There are a grand total of 6 creatures in this basement which you can create. Below I will list the following:Which CreatureWhere their Life Altar isItems required to create themDropsWhat I will not list, are strategies on how to kill them. This can be found further on in this guide. That will be the most important part of the guide. This part is General Information about each creature. [Hide=Frogeel] The Frogeel, a weird name as it is, is partly a frog partly eel. Tough it looks weird, it is actually quite powerful. It is the strongest creature that can be created. Information:Combat level: 103Health: 90Life Altar location: WestItems required to create them: Drops: Raw cave eel(2-15)Beastiary Link Tip.it[/hide] [Hide=Jubster] The Jubster is a combination of a Jubbly Bird and a Lobster. How anyone came up with this combination is unknown, but sure as hell looks funny! Information:Combat level: 87Health: 60Life Altar location: EastItems required to create them: Drops: Jubbly meat(2-10)Beastiary Link Tip.it[/hide] [Hide=Swordchick] The Swordchick is a combination of a swordfish and a chicken. Jagex has a fetish on combining bird types with fish. There is something fishy about that. Information:Combat level: 46Health: 35Life Altar location: South-WestItems required to create them: Drops: Feather(2-50) Beastiary Link Tip.it[/hide] [Hide=Spidine] The Spidine is a combination between a sardine and a spider. A red spider to be more exact. Sardines are green, so that is a weird color combination right there! Information:Combat level: 42Health: 35Life Altar location: South-EastItems required to create them: Drops: Red spider's egg(2-10)Beastiary Link Tip.it[/hide] [Hide=Unicow] The Unicow is made out of a cow and a unicorn. If you ever come across a bull, check for the amount of horns. Two horns is a bull, a single horn is the Unicow! Information:Combat level: 25Health: 24Life Altar Location: North-WestItems required to create them: Drops: Unicorn horn(2-4) Beastiary Link Tip.it[/hide] [Hide=Newtroost] The Newtroost is a combination of a newt and a rooster. We know how a rooster looks. The only thing left to find out is.. how does a newt look?! Information:Combat level: 19Health: 18Life Altar Location: North-EastItems required to create them: Drops: Eye of newt(1-17) Beastiary Link Tip.it[/hide] What you might have noticed by now, each creature has only a single drop listed here. That drop also happens to be 100%, is always equal or more then 1 and happens to be 1 out of two items used to create them. If you think about this, this means you can suffice with bringing only 1 of those items. That item will always drop when you kill the monster, which you can then use to create another monster. Because you will nearly always get more items then you used, you will gain more of this item every kill. Example: You bring 1 Unicorn horn and 10 cowhides. To create the Unicow you use 1 cowhide and 1 Unicorn horn. (Inventory then holds 9 cowhides 0 Unicorn horns) You kill the Unicow which then drops 2 Unicorn Horns (minimum). You then have 2 Unicorn horns and 9 cowhides. Next creation required 1 cowhide and 1 unicorn, after which you hold 8 cowhides and 1 unicorn horn. The amount of creatures you are able to create is therefor based on the amount of secondarily summoning items. The item the creature does NOT drop. This is important to realize if you go here. The Strategy Now you know the basic about the Tower of Life, how to get there and what can be found there, we can continue on what we will actually do here. We are here to gather one of the following items: Red Spider Egg'sUnicorn HornsRaw Cave EelsFeathersJubbly MeatEye of Newt'sIf you look at this, you will notice that 5 out of 6 products are not stackable. With multiple items dropped (up to 17!) your inventory will quickly fill. On release, this was true and caused the entire process to be quite tedious. Killing 8-10 creatures was usually plenty to fill an entire inventory. Also due to luck, you could walk out with only half an inventory or having unused secondary items. The Ardougne Cloak has the reward to turn the drops from the creatures into stackable notes. The better your cloak, the more noted items you will receive. The Hard Task (lvl 3) cloak will turn 100% into noted drops, with the exception of 1 (or very rarely 2) items. This is great, because you cannot re-use a noted item! Due to the cloak and BoB Familiars, you can do large trips, wielding a lot of items. In this part, I will briefly explain the basic strategy of killing them. Afterward I will go deeper into the subject, implementing the Ardougne Cloak in this strategy. But before I go into that, first a general part General PartGear The gear is focused on offensive for the sole reason that the monsters in here are very weak. For the Frogeel and Jubster however, I do consider wearing armour. I suggest Proselyte for it's prayer bonus. Head: Helm of neitiznot > Berserker helmet > Warrior Helmet Necklace: Fury > GloryBody: Bandos Chest Plate > Proselyte > Rune armour > Any defensive value (*Only necessary on Frogeel and Jubster or if lower then level 60)Legs: Bandos Tasset > Proselyte > Rune armour > Any defensive value (*Only necessary on Frogeel and Jubster or if lower then level 60)Boots: Dragon boots > Rune boots > Climbing bootsGloves: Barrows gloves > Rune gloves > Combat braceletRings: Berserker / Warrior ring or Ring of Dueling ( (i) if possible )Weapon: Whip / Saramodin Sword > Dragon Scitimar Off-hand: Rune defender > Obsidian shield (*If using proselyte method on Frogeel / Jubster, use a Zamorak Book)Cloak: Ardougne CloakHow to get there and where to bank You can get to the tower of life very easily if you have the Ardougne cloak. Use the Monastry Teleport that the cape possesses. Walk outside and go east. You will after a few seconds reach the tower life.If you do not have a Ardougne Claok, use the fairy ring DJP. (Fairy Tale pt. 2 started to use this) You will be using the duel ring to bank at Castlewars. This is the closest bank to a teleport spot and cheap to reach. You can either take a duel ring in your ring slot as gear or take one in your inventory if you have a damage boosting ring. If you use the Fairy ring method to reach the tower of life, you must use Glory Amulets to teleport and bank in Edgeville. The fairy ring is just outside Edgeville and easily reachable. Again, use the code DJP to get back to the tower of life. You could perhaps use Varrock teleport, but I find this is less convenient as you lose 3 inventory spots, where a glory can just be taken as gear. Alternative (very low level):Ardougne teleport to bank, then running to the tower life. The tower of life (as you know from doing the quest) is found south of Ardougne. Just teleport to Ardougne and bank at the South bank. After wards just run to the Tower. Bring plenty of law runes and an equal amount of water runes (or water staff). Familiars: For those fortunate enough to have a summoning level, make good use of them. The Tower of Life is single-way combat which prevents the use of combat familiars. We don't want those anyway. The most useful familiars are in order from good to bad:Pack-YakWar TortoiseTerrorbirdBull AntAny healing familiar if tanking Frogeel / JubsterFill your Beast of Burden with all the secondary products when you bank. (E.g. Giant Frog Legs, Cowhides etc.) Withdraw them from your familiar after you have enough room in your inventory.
