82-99 Range via Slayer?

Almost maxed Melee but I'm 92 slayer so I wouldn't mind getting Range and Slayer up at the same time.

 

Is Range slaying any good?

What should I wear?

What ammo should I use?

Which tasks should I range and which ones should I simply melee?

ranging slayer is a nightmare for me since it's way more slow ad a slayer way of training : BUT you train range !!! That's the topic afterall.

I did it on fire giants (chaos tunnel), bloodvelds (normal ones), greaters (wild volcano) and black demons (chaos tunnel), warped tortoises. I also chinned nechryaels.

I also did some black dragon (chiken lair) tasks as a ranger but they are very very slow : emerald bolts(e) + broads

For all the firsts i useds places with safe spots so i brought my best range bonus i and either used broad bolts of iron kinves/steel darts depending on the monster defence.

Of course when i hitted summoning level, geiser titan came in good help for awesome quick kills.

 

My current sets : range void / arma set + full slayer helm

Ammo i use : broad bolds - iron knives/steel darts

High level darts (p or not) when i have some and javelins i get in drops to lure the monsters.

When you can use a ranging familiar on monsters with low defence, ranging slayer isn't actually that bad. Add some cannoning and a few levels of slayer ranging are quite ok.

 

I basically did my last 5 levels like that.

 

Some tasks are better done with melee though. So see it as a longterm goal if you want to reach 99 range with slayer.

It all depends on which tasks you get, but it is definatelypossible to do it. Good tasks to range are Fire Giants, Greater Demons, Hellhounds, Blue Dragons, Black Dragons etc. Anything with a safespot should be considered a target for you to kill with range.
