Without the use of a cannon, where is the best place/setup to slay trolls?

Fairy Ring to the Windswept Mountain, enter the cave at the bottom of the path, and follow the network south. There are around 10 troll spawns there for youre killing fun.

I actually just caved and decided to buy a cannon.
