Well, I've been doing some dungeoneering on my F2p account, and was wondering which of these 2 weapons is better

 

 

The battle axe:

Stab -2

Slash +63

Crush +59

Magic +0

Ranged +0

 

Strength +55

 

 

 

The Maul:

Stab -4

Slash -4

Crush +99

Magic -4

Ranged +0

 

Strength +82

Now they're both the same speed, so dps wise, the maul is a lot better

However, the battle axe can be worn with a shield, and has a viable Slash AND crush bonus, both on aggressive (I don't want atk or def XP on this account), which makes it more flexible

I have a melee spread of 80 and I hit 200s like candy with maul. I don't think battle-axe is worth it because who has time to make a fractite shield or bind one over a platebody.

 

For me, almost all of the bosses and monsters are susceptible to crush except for zombies and shades (hate zombies/shades now).

Since you're most likely not going to use your shield slot, you should go with a 2H weapon(I'll talk about 2H swords too because it might apply to other people reading this thread).

 

I'm honestly debating between the maul and 2H sword myself on my Zerker pure. They both seem to have similar stats, with the maul having slightly higher ones. But the 2H sword has crush and slash options, which allows for more flexible exploiting of weaknesses.

 

But since my Zerker has the ability to use a tier 9 maul, while he could only use a tier 8 2H sword(Due to the maul only needing strength, and the 2H sword needing attack) it would be best for me to get him a maul.

 

But all in all, i hear a lot more people say that the maul is better. And that it's monstrous attack bonus overides most resistances.

Ok, you got a crucial fact wrong - the maul is slower than the battleaxe.

 

But, it does have beast bonuses, so I guess you should be using the maul.

 

If you hadn't mentioned about the str-only thing, I could have suggested spear and longsword too, but oh well.

I'm pretty sure the Maul and Battle axe are the same speed, they're both faster then a 2h, but slower then a Longsword. Which only leaves one speed left for both of them.
