June 1, 201016 yr essence is easy to buy/ sell without loss due to fluctuations in price every day. I wouldn't worry too much about it, buy essence, get started, and get an accurate rate :)
June 1, 201016 yr IIRC, when I last measured it I was getting about 17 xp/essence, so you should expect about 16 I'd guess.
