  1. As a bk council member many years in the past, i salute you. It's incredible to see the likes of vanzant, nasty nate, camryona, arch lah, jukkie and fightsalot among other names i recognize that are still active.
  2. i played a set of 5 dungeons with them. slowest dungeons ever. then i went back to dunging with helfrek, neo, prozac bld, phoenix odin, i roll up, toonami, fredmcgarry, shysteph and the rest of DGE. I wish i could find equally fast teams now. Regret not doing more dung when everyone was doing it.
  3. I was apparently hacked 2 months ago. so i realized when i checked my spam folder, and found a good old subscription has been paid for your runescape account. i had not accessed runescape for over a year since quitting at this point, nor any runescape related sites bar tip.it. . i recovered my account yesterday, set questions etc. today it's all been reverted, my account's been locked and i'm positive i can prove i'm the original owner of the account (i have the first and second billing information, which was all the time my account was ever a member before these last 2 months of hacked membership). 300 characters to prove it in is very little though. i can provide all sorts of information, clan chats i've been a regular in, original friends on friendslist, servers played on etc. i just hope that since not just one but 2 months of membership were bought that my stuff is still there. they name of the person who paid for membership on my account was " brenda griesemer" I expect this to be the mother of my hacker, God how i'd love to get her email to tell her what's going on... I've never broken rules, bought gold, etc. always had good software and recovery questions that make sense to me only. time will tell, what more can i do to protect my account, to avoid the hacker regaining access? edit: apparently my appeal was denied because i couldn't answer my original recovery questions from 2004. the account remains locked. anyone know for how long? i did provide all the billing information etc. i don't understand jagex sometimes. who knows the credit-cardnumber of their subscription in 2006, but is not the owner of the account? tips of how to ensure i get my account back, i have 700+ unpublished screenshots. should i mail them to jagex HQ?
  4. So i quit sometime last summer. i've been lurking the "200m exp" topic every couple of months or so and that's about it. what's the history of the Gowers leaving the board? what's this lawsuit thing? how are off-site clans doing, how long are their returning fights? what other significant events than free trade/ wildy have come about over the last year? at first glance, it looks like runescape (the community died before dungeoneering) is finally dying for solo gamers too. is that really the case?
  5. being a vegetarian i feel strongly antagonized by many on this topic. if that's not you, please bear with the tone of my post, it's not directed at you. Every time i mention I'm a vegetarian, for whatever reason, i get bombarded by comments on the "holier-than-though" , health, what i actually eat, where i get my *insert random nutritional article here* and a bucket-load of justification for why whoever i'm talking to eats meat and why it's moral Maybe even more moral than not eating meat. then comes the barrage of misinformation in disfavor of vegetarianism. please at least take the time to read Wikipedia on the subject, is 10 minutes too much to ask? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegetarianism almost everything in this topic that's "negative" with vegetarianism, is sourced and referenced as incorrect in the main Wikipedia article. ignorance about facts on vegetarianism really do flourish. I don't care what you eat, as long as you're aware of the choices you make. Especially the negative consequences of choices, and the impact on others (i don't particularly like the selfishly ignorant do you?). hit me with facts and not opinion, research and not blogs, or just say it outright: " I prioritize eating meat over the environment, than animals, than price, than living longer, than food safety (no e.coli mad cow disease etc), and so on." If you can be outright and be ethically responsible for your choice, i respect that a lot. the easy way out, is becoming a vegetarian. I believe most of the animosity towards non-preaching vegetarians, originates from bad conscience eating meat. why else do people time and time and time again need to argue the fact that I'm a vegetarian, have been born and raised that way. I don't impose vegetarianism on anyone, yet people don't even believe me when i say that. Why if not because of guilt, does everyone want me to try eating meat? what's the big deal, you wouldn't eat your dog, or sister, i won't eat meat; it's just not what i'd personally consider food.
  6. This is the exact problem with it though. How exactly do some Western [which I will assume represent all 5 centers of theological development] Theologians decide which stories we should interpret literally, and which ones we cannot? For nearly 2000 years they claimed the story of creation was to be taken literally, it is only now that we have evidence of the Earth's age that they decide to take it as a metaphor. Corrected. wait what? western theologians determine western interpretations, just as middle eastern asian and african theologians determine their respective interpretations. There are large discrepancies between what is taught in catholicism regionally (and the Vatican position) depending on the region. All this research implies, is that fundamentalists may be fundamentally wrong, undermining their entire system of beliefs (by proving them less miraculous/ more natural. For anyone who isn't a fundamentalist, it means nothing theologically...
  7. socialism can be anywhere from regulated capitalism to authoritarian communism. wouldn't it be much easier to use the term communism when it is communism you mean? social democracy is also socialism. communism failing does not imply that socialism fails one bit.
  8. or to recognize how closely Iraq resembles to Vietnam
  9. Even beyond that, it's the same God for both religions. He's just a bigot that doesn't understand what he's doing. So lets just say that there is a god who is all knowing, all good, and all powerful. Then no matter what anyone does it would be what he wanted to happen. So then why are some Christians complaining about Muslims if they were essentially created by god? Maybe it would be god's will for Muslims to be made and then destroyed? But then why do anything at all in life if god is going to make happen what he wants to happen anyway? Ugh, religion is so confusing... because God chooses not to interfere - Free Will emerges and life can have meaning (in religions terms) beyond being a puppet show. Oh, then prayer would be useless. unless it compels God to interfere. religion is complicated stuff.
  10. i'll do a lapalok task after the one i'm currently assigned to find out (sometime in teh future) if you still don't have the stats by then. dunno when i'll feel like doing slayer though :P
  11. my wanted binds: Shadow silk hood, hexhunter and primal battleaxe (baxe replaced with new weapons), fourth would be prom plate or sagg. body depending on mage-density on occult floors.

  13. lol what about the runecraft requirements.... no way in hell im ever gonna get 80+ l then your rc level will never be "elite" according to jagex' definition. I wonder if they'll bring out "elite quests" rather than these mid-level "grandmaster quests"
  14. I'd love to see someone counter argue that. http://matt.blogs.playtime-magazine.com/2010/04/26/why-i-dont-draw-mohammed-peace-be-upon-him-and-all-that/ i was thinking of making an own topic with this article as its outlet to challenge some of the old "dogmas" here on tif, here's a tiny extract (the whole thing is worth reading). this article is very pertinent. i don't know of an official press release, but yeah, i'd say the school of thought is a pretty clear counter-argument. however, "Christians" will at least resort to death threats for teaching factual evolution [note this is the factual, documented scenario where organisms collectively evolve during short periods of time, bacteria, insects and the like], much like "Muslims" are responsible for 9/11. one example: http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2007/07/professors-in-c/ While he "finds it hard to believe" that's not the same thing as an international outcry. A few lunatics isn't the same as public pressure that merits cancelling the episode. I don't see what you're attempting to prove here - while there are radicals in every religion a few lunatics making death threats doesn't equal an international outcry. you state: "South park has used Jesus in their episodes multiple times in ways highly unflattering, yet there were no death threats against the creators..." I disagree and quote: "I find it hard to believe that no Christian has ever sent a death threat to the shows [south park's] creators. Its just not possible." followed by as much justification as you can get, without an official press release by someone at south park confirming death threats. your argument was "death threats" not international outcry. The Muslim outcry may have to do with the religion's belief in non-depiction of Mohammed. IF the same were the case with Jesus in Christianity, wouldn't the outcry be the same? it's hard to compare two different cultures and sets of customs directly. I don't think that should be done, because it ignores all the cultural differences. the second part of my argument outlines the fact that "when extremist Christians send death threats to scientists who teach empirically verified factual evolution (read: Truth), it's not unlikely that the same people would send death threats for much more outrageous public display. It's a formally fallacious argument, but in terms of sociology it fits human psyche. And thus i have presented a "counter-argument" to your original claim, just like Das asked. There is after all no formal requirement for all death threats to be announced to the public, and so it would be unreasonable to demand "proof" of death threats since this isn't necessarily part of the public domain. Showing that it's very likely that death threats have been received (as i believe i've done) is the best anyone can do, unless a press release is ushered that denies or confirms the existence of any such threats. I wish someone would argue some of the claims i've made that no one has commented on; i'd really appreciate more viewpoints (or else i wouldn't want to participate in a discussion).
  15. http://www.adherents.com/Religions_By_Adherents.html#Christianity claims there were 2.1 billion self-proclaimed Christians in 2001. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:World-Population-1800-2100.png world population has increased by at least 500million since that date, and with 33% Christians in the world, if that figure remains constant that gives for about 2,25 billion Christians today. that gives for a little less than 800m Christians falling outside your grouping. it's half of what you wanted, but a third of Christians, which i would call significant. what do you call it? i think this thread has the potential for very interesting discussion, if someone argues other points mentioned on this last page of the thread :P
  16. i go to w 117 daemonheim to get my daily 30k exp. i know many other DGE membres do the same. Try by the bank there, and by the telespot. of course 95+ construction and rc are always hard to find assists for, whatever you do.
  17. Centralized structure? I can visit the churches of 20 different protestant denominations and independent churches downtown in my city. population: 170 000. You say "scholars" are the most important. The day to day teachings of a priest / speaker are at least equally important, as they cement, exemplify and highlight the moral attitudes of their congregation. this following list does not list "Christians" who are involved in independent churches http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominations_by_number_of_members Nowhere does my argument attribute an equal proportion of extremists based on their particular faith. I argue that there is a significant amount of extremists who declare themselves as members of both faiths. I argue that the media marginalizes Christian extremists, and propagates the "threat" of Muslim extremists. defining an extremist as a "radical fundamentalist" or "missionary fundamentalist" many basic tenets of the republicans define them all as extremists (which in global political terms makes sense) I'd love to see someone counter argue that. http://matt.blogs.playtime-magazine.com/2010/04/26/why-i-dont-draw-mohammed-peace-be-upon-him-and-all-that/ i was thinking of making an own topic with this article as its outlet to challenge some of the old "dogmas" here on tif, here's a tiny extract (the whole thing is worth reading). this article is very pertinent. i don't know of an official press release, but yeah, i'd say the school of thought is a pretty clear counter-argument. however, "Christians" will at least resort to death threats for teaching factual evolution [note this is the factual, documented scenario where organisms collectively evolve during short periods of time, bacteria, insects and the like], much like "Muslims" are responsible for 9/11. one example: http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2007/07/professors-in-c/ I'd just like to point out that you've all commented on the same feature of my argument and ignored the other facets. I am no insinuating a "you can't contradict me so i'm right" fallacy by any means. I do, however, find it interesting that the primary features of my argument stand unchallenged and uncommented upon. it's easy to want to declare a western "moral high-ground" legitimizing completely unrestricted freedom of speech. Is that the most ethical approach though? with amended free speech in large parts of Europe, is there even a consistent "Western" definition of freedom of expression? I sit with more questions than answers from my vantage point at least.
  18. i tried a wolpertinger at ice strykerwyrms. then i tried using a super magic potion (overloads are obviously better). The wolpertinger level-boost doesn't seem to increase max damage, so i wouldn't bring one of those (+2 magic levels of accuracy from it, as they don't stack seems like a waste). i really don't know though.

  20. Give me an hour and I can point out about 20 places in the New Testament where the WBC is outright wrong. "God hates [bleep]s" contradicts the very core of Christianity. How many places in the Qu'ran can Muslims point out that contradict what the extremists are doing? A peaceful religion's response to crazies burning its holy book would be to pray for that individual, not put out death threats. Clearly we didn't see that here. We also saw that many middle easterners had a very difficult time distinguishing this nobody from all of Christianity, the West or even the POTUS. Freedom of speech is an impossible concept to them, and the world is worse off for it. from the Qu'ran: " You shall not take your own life." it doesn't get much clearer than that. Americans and the rest of the world are xenophobic, and simply don't even know the basics of Islam. the community and religious leaders of Muslim groupings are not the ones to issue death threats. I'm pretty sure if i staged an "abortion party" or "bible-burning fest" i could get the extreme right to issue death threats in front of the media. I'm pretty sure i could get the same death threats for portraying Jesus as a canibal in a political cartoon, or for wanting to build a "Mega-Mosque" 2 blocks from ground zero. you paint all Muslims as extremists, but excuse Christian fundamentalists as a "tiny minority" "Freedom from slander and the mockery of Holy Symbols" is an impossible concept to many westeners, especially Americans. Speech doesn't necessarily have to be 100% free, but can be regulated to disallow behaviors that can only be demeaning and disrespectful ( such as the laws are in many European democracies). The misunderstandings are a two-way street. We impose our "universal rights" on them, and they impose their "universal rights" on us.
  21. 50 was an approximation of the people at the London Eye and pre-runefest events, that's how i read it at least
  22. I don't really think my levels have anything to do with the argument though. my opinion was the same when i was training hard to do legends, after that i've never had to train for a quest. shouldn't that happen regularly though? isn't that when you find goals, things you wish to achieve rather than instant gratification after finishing a quest in the week of its release? i liked the level of requirements for the elite diaries: a lot of them were "easy" yet a few in each diary had high levels. the mid-levels were to a large degree skipped, because they aren't really that interesting (yet). that's what i meant when jagex should skip the mid-levels for now, realize their lower-level game is as good as saturated, and create some elite content, before elite players quit, having "completed" the game, other than grinding aspects. I especially loved the 96 fishing requirement, which seemed like a new goal for me, until i remembered summer pies boost more than fishing potions.
  23. june 2009. f2p warring and pking was changed substantially with the update; loads of high combat people (in top clans) had trained agility solely for the f2p effects maybe the "permanent effects" of the diaries will actually be permanent :o!
  24. If you PM that to a member of the Administrative team, they should be able to help you sort it out assuming it's got all requirements. EDIT: That account doesn't meet all of the requirements, as it has 600+ posts. You made the same mistake I did, I think, in thinking it just has to meet one of the three criteria listed. (It actually has to meet all of them.) ah right:P least interesting question answered then :D
  25. To everyone with a different rank than "member" personally: If you could change one thing with the tip.it forums, what would it be? If you could get one thing from jagex, what would it be? If you could change one thing ingame what would it be? why do you choose to spend your time on tip.it, rather than irl? what is your biggest mistake / best decision on tip.it? what is the ultimate topic on tif? what is the feature you'd like the most on tip.it, if there were no constraints? fact questions: How many known Jagex mods have accounts they use on tif? (can you free the display-name "nacho" for my use? :P http://forum.tip.it/user/18181-nacho/ (3yrs no activity) but especially: why don't you write a couple of pieces for the tip.it times?!
