The presentation of the Medal of Honor to a living soldier for heroism in Afghanistan would be an important moment for Obama, who has struggled to build public support for the war there.

They are most definitely heroes, don't get me wrong, but it's sad that it's being done as a slight publicity stunt.

True Heros. My favorite is MOH recipient Cpl Jason Dunham. Covered a grenade with his own body and helmet. The night before the event, he had been talking about covering a grenade with a kevlar with fellow Marines wondering what effect it would have. Pretty chilling.

Not to start a popularity contest, but I would have to say that my "favorite" recipients are:

Sammy L. Davis

John Basilone

Allan Kellogg

Of course, all of the recipients are amazing and one isn't better than another.

I've heard of this. Using your body and a helmet supposedly absorbs the whole blast, protecting everyone else nearby, even if there is a risk of it killing you in the process, if I'm not mistaken. It's still extremely risky either way you cut it, and for that, the dude deserves the medal.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.
