June 14, 201016 yr It updates randomly, usually a few times a day. Therefore you can't really predict it, although you can put a crashing item in at max and when the hourglass appears the ge will have updated.

I have a theory for how it works more closely, but i have yet to get enough information to confirm it with any real degree of reliability. we'll see though :D
