I've got about 50m to play around with and I'm trying to figure out the best trading strategy to make money the fastest.

 

I tried trading wizard hat (g)'s but got kinda screwed by the volatility in the prices.

 

Have been having more luck trading nature runes and death runes, a few gp above and below the mid-market price, but with those i'm limited to the 25k per 4 hours or whatever it is.

 

My ultimate goal is to make enough money to buy a Santa Hat which is in the 80 millions, so I've got to make at least 30m.

 

Any tips on what might a good item to frequently trade and how much above/below the mid-market price I should shoot for?

 

I'm only on F2P.

What you're doing with runes is probably the best. You can also try doing that with the trimmed armors, or any other commodity that is traded often and in bulk on the GE.

Mith and addy bars worked well, as does coal when it's on the rise. That being said I find it hard to flip 50m's worth in F2P on an alt, since two slots (one of which is for buying jugs of water, so can't use it) limits me.
