New nvidia drivers refuse to work

I have a NVIDIA Geforece 6600gt and recently tried to upgrade my NVIDIA drivers....(mine are like 3 years out of date) but when the setup ran......it just restarted my computer....and did nothing.....

OK i'll bite. What made you update drivers?

Nvidias Windows drivers are officially a pain. Don't use their official ones, use the ones on http://www.omegadrivers.net/ as they work alot better. Alternatly if you use Linux, then you can just apt-get the drivers.
