  1. Bios is hard shelled to XP sp 1a, most likely Wipeing out the hard drive will do of 2 things Thing one: No CD drivers Thing two: A clean platform to reinstall, If BIOS is shelld to 1a only, the gen. cd drivers are there. In any case, could he uninstall all windows updates and be left with sp 1a? If so would try that first. Most likely let him redo his pc that way Thinking outloud :wall:
  2. I have a question, Do any of you all use Black Ice? Now be careful if you try this fire wall out. (not recomended) Its not a noob firewall and is for experts out here. Just wanting to know if there are any more of us out there or is it now just 3rd party users, I just use IE and XP sp2 and Black Ice, that's all that is running at start up, takes my pc less then 25 secs to FULLY boot, bet no one here can say that :P Any ways For the ones who go under ground, have you seen the new net task attack? Shield taking on some heavy hits, nothing getting trough, but fun to watch the attacks come, Belgian has been one of the most to produce it so far. 8. Ok looks like you have a ton of things running, that could be eating up ram befor you eaven get going, but thats ok if they need to be but thats what we want to know, Do you have soundblaster card? Devldr16 is a background process that is required for your soundcard to work with older DOS based programs and games. The process has been reported to cause problems for some users, however cannot be removed as it will prevent your soundcard from working. are you runnig norton? internAt this is run in system 32 folder, would do a search for it and see if indeed thats where that is sitting. if not post here. smile because we just getting started, would send you over to (http://www.pcpitstop.com) and run 2 things: FREE spyware check deep scan: and virus check deep scan: there on the left side : look for test and scans: this all free and they do load a small java file, best way to see for yourself whats going on, and there is a few things that flag but cant realy say(bad) till you run them Trust me this is the safest way to get a (USER) info online and quick and they will tell you how to get rid of any probs you are haveing with it, I dont want to tell you to start turning stuff off, But do want a report back what they found, so i might walk you through any thing you dont understand:) hope im helping
