Your prestige for the next run will be based on the greater of the current and past progress. You do the lower floors before you reset in order to maintain high prestige for the next run after you reset. Disclaimer: The above is probably inaccurate.
August 8, 201015 yr As explaing above. The ring stores "current progress" and "previous progress"; this being the number of unique floors you have done since reset. The higher value dictates your prestige. If you did floor 1 - 25 and thus had 25 prestige, then reset and did only floor 25 - 30 say you would reset and suddenly only have 6 prestige (instead of 25) thus crippling ur xp.
