Timo
Hey everyone. I had some fun making a little splayscreen for my website. It turned out kinda ugly but well, i had fun with the little heart-beat thingie The url to the website's layout is here: http://www.dse.nl/~icky/ Don't go there if you dont trust it. And a part of it ;) You might give it a hard refresh (ctrl+F5) to see it. ~Timo
venomai
Maybe it's just the glare on my monitor, but right now the most prominent part of this splash is the white pixel in the middle. It's a bit of a weak focal point, and the surrounding elements aren't too effective. Minimalistic is great to aim for, but this is over the top. It's just empty and bland right now... Try adding elements of design and an interesting/appealing focal point. Keep in mind, a splash is the first thing the viewer will see on your site, and that's where first impressions will be coming from. Good luck :)
Mercifull
As far as I'm concerned, splash screens are pretty much a waste of time if they only act as a portal - you only give one choice. O belive that the only time you should have a splash screen is if there are several options to go, ie a flash based site and html or one for international visitors say. Other than that its wasting time, no one really wants to have to move through extra pages waiting or clicking. Now thats my opinion on the matter heres some facts... A homepage with very little content is a violation of a fundamental SE optimization rule. You just arn't going to get high up in the search engines with a splash screen. Many people will look at a splash screen and if its not clear whats going on they will leave. Check your server logs to see how many people are not going beyond the first page Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
