Removing Backgrounds

Featured Replies

Can someone teach me how to do this using GIMP? Either post a link to a guide that explains it or simply spell it out here. Much appreciated!

EDIT: To be more clear I mean something like this:

I create a logo.

It has a white background.

How do I remove the background but keep the logo so it can be used as a signature much like the one I have now?

Add a new layer and select transparency. Make your logo on the transparent layer. Delete your background. Or you can probably start with a transparent background. If you already made it on the background layer then I don't know, I haven't used gimp in months.
